On the occasion of International Children's Day June 1, the Medical Team of Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC), Lam Dong National Defense Economic Group (Military Region 7) and agencies and departments of Lam Dong province coordinated to organize a delegation to visit, examine, distribute medicine, and give gifts to ethnic minority children in Dam Rong plateau district, Lam Dong province.
Knowing that a group of doctors from Ho Chi Minh City came to examine and give free medicine at Lien Trang Village Cultural House (Da Tong Commune, Dam Rong District), Ms. K'Ra Chenh K'Lon brought her grandchildren to the medical examination point to receive free health examination and consultation from pediatricians from Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital 2.
It is known that Mrs. K'Lon's family is in difficult circumstances. The children's parents both work far away, so she alone takes care of 4 grandchildren, one of whom has a brain disease and has difficulty walking.
On International Children's Day, nearly 700 ethnic minority children aged 1 to 10 years old were examined and provided health advice by young doctors from Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) and the Lam Dong National Defense Economic Group Infirmary, to prevent hand, foot and mouth diseases, respiratory diseases, skin diseases and epidemics during seasonal changes.
According to Dr. Luu Thi My Tin, through this visit to remote areas, we have had the opportunity to gain practical experience and learn more about the health status of ethnic minority children. "Most of the children have many dental problems. We have advised their parents to work with the local health sector to protect their health," said Dr. Tin.
In addition to the special and meaningful health gifts given by the program, ethnic minority children in Da Tong, Da Long and Da M'Rong communes (Dam Rong district, Lam Dong province) also received free medicine, free haircuts and gifts from the program.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trong Thuy, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Lam Dong National Defense Economic Group, currently 80% of the people of the three communes of Da Tong, Da Long and Da M'Rong are ethnic minorities, the children here are all in very difficult circumstances, especially in terms of health care. Therefore, the gifts from the Ho Chi Minh City Medical Group have brought great joy and happy smiles to the children on the occasion of International Children's Day this year.
It is known that the total cost of implementing the program is about more than 400 million VND, taken from a part of the production increase fund of Lam Dong National Defense Economic Group and contributions from Military Region 7 Group and Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC).
