Instead of cultivating individual mango trees, this year many farming households in Mai Son district have cooperated with mango growing enterprises to organize production according to the chain. Enterprises will provide technical support, provide agricultural materials such as fertilizers, pesticides to farmers... The initial investment is deducted from the product, after the enterprise purchases all at market price, thereby helping farmers feel secure in production.
As one of the households specializing in mango cultivation, this year Ms. Dinh's family has cooperated with Khanh Thin Trading and Production Company Limited, Mai Son District to cultivate nearly 20 hectares of mango. Although this year the mango trees were affected by the prolonged dry weather, thanks to the care according to technical processes and timely pest control, the mango yield is still quite good.
After ripening, the Company will harvest the mangoes in bulk. The mango growers will classify them in step 1, the company will transport them to the warehouse, classify them in step 2, and then pack them. Mangoes weighing 400 grams or more, free of pests and diseases, and with beautiful appearance will be evaluated as grade 1 mangoes, which will be exported to the Chinese market; grade 2 mangoes will be consumed domestically. As of May 31, 2024, the price of grade 1 mangoes purchased by the Company at the Warehouse is 7,000 VND/kg; grade 2 mangoes are from 3,000 - 3,500 VND/kg.
According to the company's assessment: Although the time when mangoes flower and bear fruit is hot and dry, most mango areas cannot be watered, but because farmers follow tree care techniques and prevent pests and diseases, the rate of grade 1 mangoes is still high.
Since the beginning of the season, Khanh Thin Trading and Production Company Limited has exported 18 containers of mangoes, equivalent to 576 tons, to the Chinese market. It is expected that from now until the end of the 2024 mango season, the Company will continue to purchase over 1,000 tons of mangoes from households that have cooperated in mango production for export and consumption in the domestic market./.
