The stone cave road made from 15,000 recycled bags in Dong Nai is becoming a sightseeing and photography destination for thousands of tourists.
The highlight is the unique cave path over 200m long, formed from the creative ideas and enthusiasm of the parish community.
The cave road is made from 15,000 recycled bags, the result of a process of collecting and skillfully trimming, sewing, heating,... to create this unique road.
The bags are transformed into blocks of stone, creating a shimmering, mysterious space leading to the church.
To carry out this project, parishioners used animal and poultry feed bags. These bags, after use, were thrown away, but now they are cleaned and used as Christmas decorations.
Ms. Mai, a parishioner who participated in making the nativity scene, shared: “We have been preparing since the end of November. Although it was quite hard work, everyone felt happy and joyful to be able to contribute a small part to decorating the church for Christmas.”
According to Mr. Chanh (Head of the church's executive committee), this is the 5th consecutive year that parishioners in the parish have worked together to build this cave road, and every step has been carried out carefully and thoughtfully.
"In the early years, it took more than 2 months to prepare, come up with ideas, arrange and layout appropriately. Later, the stages became more proficient so the construction was much faster," said Mr. Chanh.
Every night, thousands of locals and tourists come here to admire, take souvenir photos and feel the warm atmosphere of Christmas.
With its sparkling beauty, the cave path at Bao Thi Church has become a special highlight this Christmas season.
Miniature landscapes around the church such as: lanterns, Santa Claus ringing bells, nativity scene..., are also open for free for people to visit.
Priest Tran Ngoc Bao (Parish priest of Bao Thi church) said that the grotto was built not only to create a joyful atmosphere for the Christmas season, but also to send a message of love, sharing and environmental protection.
After the Christmas season, a small number of recycled bags will be used as decorations and flower arrangements at churches. The majority will be sent to specialized recycling units to be processed and turned into useful products.
“We hope that everyone who comes here will feel the profound meaning of Christmas and together build a better community,” Father Tran Ngoc Bao shared.
