The People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has just issued Notice No. 463/TB-UBND, announcing information on planning and investment plan for the Ho Tram urban expressway - Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai province, according to Decision No. 1680/QD-UBND dated June 12, 2025.

Accordingly, this expressway is part of the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, adjusted and added to the transport system according to Decision 1629/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister . The route is 41km long, starting at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4 and DT.991 (Phu My City), ending at the intersection with DT.994 (Xuyen Moc District), with a scale of 4-6 lanes, and a design speed of 100 - 120km/h.

The proposed investment plan completes major intersections with National Highway 56, National Highway 55 and provincial roads such as Provincial Road 765, Provincial Road 997, Provincial Road 328, Provincial Road 994... to create synchronous inter-regional connections, especially between Ho Tram area and Long Thanh airport, the strategic traffic center of the Southern region.

The total land use area is expected to be about 365 hectares. The total investment capital is 17,000 billion VND, of which the site clearance cost is 4,500 billion VND.

Ho Tram urban expressway to Long Thanh airport after 2030 will be expanded to 6 lanes.

In the 2021-2030 period, a 4-lane route will be built, and after 2030 it will be expanded to 6 lanes. The project is invested in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), in which the state budget undertakes site clearance, while the construction and installation part is carried out by the investor with legal capital sources.

The project was approved by the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in resolutions No. 23/NQ-HDND (dated March 27, 2025) and 42/NQ-HDND (dated June 6, 2025), with the expectation of strengthening regional connectivity, promoting socio-economic development, especially in the Ho Tram tourist area and the vicinity of Long Thanh airport.

According to the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, this is considered one of the important traffic projects, creating a boost for tourism and economic development in the Southeast region, connecting the coastal area of Ba Ria - Vung Tau with the national and international infrastructure network.

The People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that the traffic connection from Long Thanh airport to Ho Tram is very necessary to complete the traffic infrastructure to connect Ba Ria - Vung Tau province with localities in the Southeast and Southwest regions; connecting between development centers, urban areas of districts and cities in the province.

At the same time, it links together the economic axis of agriculture, industry, services, tourism and seaports, contributing to promoting socio-economic development of the areas through which the route passes; opening up space for new urban development, services and industry, contributing to the good implementation of national tourism planning, maximizing the advantages of the economic and tourism potential of the province and the region.
