According to Khaosod , at 7:00 PM on December 12th, medical personnel received reports of eight patients requiring emergency treatment due to abdominal pain and vomiting. These individuals experienced severe abdominal pain, dizziness, diarrhea, and nausea.
Immediately afterwards, the aforementioned athletes were taken to the hospital and received care according to the regulations for national team athletes as stipulated by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT). This morning (December 13), these individuals were discharged from the hospital.
Sermsak Sumanon, head of the medical team for the Thai national athletes, clarified the matter. The Khaosod newspaper quoted the official as saying: “All eight athletes are members of the Thai national team participating in the 33rd SEA Games, including two women and six men. They had just returned after a day of competition at the Games.”

They arrived in Chonburi province and ate canned food at a location, but this food was not provided by the SEA Games 33 Organizing Committee. These individuals exhibited symptoms of food poisoning, and these symptoms occurred before the eight athletes checked into the hotel provided by the organizing committee.
Currently, all of these athletes are recovering well. They have returned to the hotels arranged by the organizing committee. The medical team will continue to closely monitor the athletes' health. We would like to reiterate that the symptoms of food poisoning did not originate from the food provided by the SEA Games organizing committee.”
