On the evening of October 7, after a long journey from Kathmandu, the Nepalese team of 23 players landed at Tan Son Nhat airport, Ho Chi Minh City.
Immediately after completing immigration procedures, coach Matt Ross and his team quickly moved to the Elizabeth Hotel where the team was stationed to prepare for the first leg of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup against the Vietnamese team.
At exactly 11pm the same day, the whole team arrived at the Elizabeth Hotel. Due to the long journey, the Nepalese players were quite tired, but were warmly welcomed by the organizers and the hotel, served light meals and arranged for timely rest.
Previously, veteran goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong, who has more than 100 caps for the national team, flew to Vietnam earlier than his teammates. He and striker Anjan Bista (13 goals in 70 matches) are two notable faces in the Nepal squad, bringing experience and attacking power to the South Asian representative.
Vice captain Rohit Chand shared: "We have prepared seriously for the match against Vietnam. They are a very strong team in Southeast Asia, but Nepal will play their best, follow the coaching staff's tactics and give their best performance."
In history, Vietnam and Nepal have only faced each other twice, both in the 2003 Asian Cup qualifiers. At that time, the South Asian representative lost 0-5 in the first leg (Incheon, South Korea) and 0-2 in the second leg (Muscat, Oman).
According to the plan, the Nepal team will attend a technical meeting at 3:00 p.m. on October 8. After that, coach Matt Ross and goalkeeper Kiran Kumar Limbu will attend a pre-match press conference at Binh Duong Stadium. The team will also have 1 hour to practice getting used to the field and weather.
The match between the two sides takes place at 7:30 p.m. on October 9 at Binh Duong Stadium (Go Dau).

Three players had to practice separately in the first training session of the Vietnam team.
