On the morning of July 26, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, came to lay wreaths and offer incense to commemorate heroic martyrs at the Go Cong Martyrs' Temple and attended the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025) in Dong Thap province.
Reporting to the working delegation, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Long Thuan Ward ( Dong Thap Province) Nguyen Thi My Xuan said that in recent years, the ward has effectively implemented policies and guidelines to care for people with meritorious services . In 2025, the locality organized visits and presented gifts on the occasion of Lunar New Year and War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27 to 286 policy beneficiaries and relatives of martyrs, with a total cost of more than 291 million VND.
The construction and repair of gratitude houses has been promoted, with 173 houses supported, with a total value of more than 4.4 billion VND. Of these, 102 houses were newly built and 71 houses were repaired. The ward has also basically solved the housing needs of war invalids and martyrs facing difficulties; supported children of meritorious people in their studies and careers; ensured that 100% of policy beneficiaries are provided with health insurance and full health care.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia said that in recent times, many resolutions and directives of the Party, most recently the 8th Central Resolution on continuing to improve policies for people with meritorious services, have been issued. In the coming time, we will continue to do better to ensure better care for people with meritorious services.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia hopes that local leaders will pay more attention, first of all, to perfecting policies and the legal system and focusing on overcoming the consequences of war. From searching for martyrs' remains to building gratitude houses, mobilizing many social and state resources to take care of people's lives; especially doing a good job of propaganda and educating patriotism so that the children of martyrs' families and those with meritorious services can continue to follow their example; determined to maintain the achievements of the revolution; encouraging children to study, innovate and create to get rich to build the homeland more and more prosperous and happy.
