Teammates urge Sancho to apologize to coach Ten Hag

Man Utd players advise midfielder Jadon Sancho to apologize to coach Erik ten Hag soon, if he does not want to be kicked out of the club.

When Sancho was left out of the squad for the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on September 3, Ten Hag said the reason was because the former Dortmund player had not met the requirements in training. Shortly after, Sancho posted on social media, claiming that the coach's statement was completely untrue.

"Please don't believe everything you read! I won't let people say things that are completely untrue. I behaved well in training this week and believe there was another reason the manager dropped me that he couldn't say. I have been unfairly blamed for a long time," the 23-year-old striker wrote.

Sancho was relegated to training with the U18s and kept out of the first team for security reasons after suggesting Ten Hag was lying. He last played in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on 26 August. He has played three games this season but has yet to start.

According to the Guardian , several Man Utd leaders have spoken privately with Sancho and made it clear that the English player can only resolve this by apologizing to Ten Hag. This is also the opinion of the first-team players - who believe that if they do not apologize to the coach soon, Sancho will have to leave the club when the mid-season transfer window opens in early January 2024.

Sancho joined Man Utd from Dortmund in July 2021 for $88 million. The deal took place under coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In his first season, he played 38 times in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting three times. In the 2022-2023 season, Sancho played a total of 41 games, scoring seven goals and assisting three times.

Sancho's position at Old Trafford has been unstable because he wants to play as a left-winger. But this is also the preferred position of Marcus Rashford - a player considered untouchable at Man Utd. Sancho was tried on the right wing but failed. Man Utd then bought Antony to play this position.

In the pre-season friendlies of 2023-2024, Sancho was often assigned to play number 10 by Ten Hag but did not perform up to expectations. It is reported that in addition to not being able to play in his preferred position, Sancho was also dissatisfied because he was not given the number 7 shirt as promised when he signed with Man Utd.

Man Utd are currently 10th in the Premier League with four wins and four losses, earning 12 points after eight games. In the Champions League, they are bottom of the table after two defeats. Ten Hag's team will face Sheffield United this weekend.
