Simultaneous inspection and confiscation of 'warehouse' of foreign wine and smuggled cigars in Bac Giang

On May 6, the General Department of Market Management ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) informed about the discovery and seizure of a large quantity of cigarettes, cigars and foreign alcohol with signs of smuggling, without documents proving legal origin.

Previously, on May 5, Market Management Team No. 3 (Market Management Department of Bac Giang province) simultaneously inspected 2 stores in Bac Giang city, discovered and seized hundreds of bottles of various types of foreign wine, nearly 4,000 cigars, and over 3,000 packs of cigarettes with signs of smuggling.

The Market Management Department of Bac Giang province has transferred the case file of Than Hai Phong business household to Bac Giang Provincial Police to continue investigating and clarifying the violations.

Specifically, the market management force conducted a surprise inspection of the business household of Ms. Than Thi Phuong Linh (at address 116+118 Quach Nhan Street, Xuong Giang Ward). The inspection team recorded that the store sold 123 bottles of foreign wine with the following brands: Royal Sature 38, Chivas, Balantine, Macalland, The Glenlivet... In addition, this store also stored 271 cigars of the brands Montecristo black platinum series, Padian, Espado ossaro, Dominico, Cohiba, Palenie niszczypluca, Rauchen and 46 packs of cigarettes of the brands 555, Winston, Richmond.

The inspection team determined that the batch of wine, worth VND366 million, was produced abroad but did not have an import stamp as required. Ms. Linh could not present invoices or documents for all the cigars, cigarettes, and foreign wine products at the store.

At the second location, the market management force suddenly inspected the business household Than Hai Phong (at address 124, Nguyen Thi Luu Street, Ngo Quyen Ward). The inspection team discovered that this business household sold many foreign-made alcohol, cigarettes, and cigars without invoices or documents proving their legal origin.

Accordingly, the inspection team made a record of temporary seizure of 3,663 imported cigars; 58 bottles of foreign wine branded XO, Macalland 12, Macalland Quest, Macalland Lumina, Enicma, XO Extra Brandy and 3,230 packs of various types of cigarettes.

The Market Management Department of Bac Giang province has transferred the case file and the seized goods and exhibits at Than Hai Phong business household to the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Giang province to continue verifying and clarifying the violations.

In addition, the Market Management Department of Bac Giang province continues to verify and clarify the violations of the business household Than Thi Phuong Linh to handle them according to the provisions of law.
