Dong Nai plans to arrange accommodation for 1,600 officials and civil servants after the province's merger

Complete the merger project before May 1, 2025

Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee has also just issued a plan to implement the arrangement and merger of administrative units of Binh Phuoc province with Dong Nai province.

Accordingly, the Steering Committee and the Project Support Team were established, including leaders of Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces and relevant agencies of the two provinces; to develop a plan for dissolution, establish grassroots Party organizations, and arrange the organizational structure and staffing of agencies and units under the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, socio-political organizations, and mass organizations.

At the same time, issue directive documents and organize to collect voters' opinions before April 25, 2025; submit to People's Councils at all levels for approval the Project on arranging and merging administrative boundaries of Binh Phuoc province with Dong Nai province and complete documents, maps, and projects to submit to the Government before May 1, 2025.

According to the Project on rearranging and reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a 2-level local government organization model approved by the Government, Binh Phuoc province and Dong Nai province were merged into a new province called Dong Nai province, with the administrative-political center located in Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province today.

After the merger, Dong Nai province has a natural area of 12,737.2 km² and a population of nearly 4.5 million people. With the total population after the merger, Dong Nai ranks 3rd in the country after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Regarding the arrangement and merger of commune-level administrative units, Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces are urgently implementing. Dong Nai province currently has 159 communes, wards and towns, and it is expected that after the arrangement, there will be 55 wards and communes, a decrease of more than 65% compared to before the arrangement. Meanwhile, Binh Phuoc province has 111 commune-level administrative units, and it is expected that after the arrangement, there will be 42 communes and wards, a decrease of more than 62%.

Arrange accommodation for about 1,600 officials and civil servants

The Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has just requested departments and branches to review social housing projects in the province to calculate and arrange accommodation for officials and civil servants of Binh Phuoc province to work in Dong Nai after the province's merger.

According to preliminary reports, there are about 1,600 officials and civil servants from Binh Phuoc coming to Dong Nai province to work when the province is merged.

In addition, Dong Nai province leaders also requested to repair unused office buildings into housing to solve temporary accommodation for officials and civil servants living far from home.

According to the Department of Finance of Dong Nai province, after checking the current status and reporting, there are 5 land plots in the central area of Bien Hoa city with blocks of houses on the land that can be renovated and repaired to make official housing for civil servants from Binh Phuoc who come to Dong Nai to work.

Specifically, the land of Guest House 71 (opposite the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee has been recovered and put on the auction list), the land of the Dong Nai Provincial Continuing Education Center (old), social housing apartments A1, A2, B1, B2 (Quang Vinh ward), Dong Nai Provincial public housing and two land plots with houses on the land that were once used by Dong Nai Lottery and General Services Company Limited (recovered, in Trung Dung ward).

According to the Department of Finance of Dong Nai province, in the 5 above-mentioned land plots, there are nearly 160 rooms that can be renovated and repaired to be put into use as official residences, arranging accommodation for civil servants of Binh Phuoc province to work in Dong Nai.

In addition to the plan to review and repair headquarters to build official housing to solve temporary accommodation for civil servants away from home, Dong Nai province said that in Bien Hoa city, there are 3 social housing projects under construction with about 3,500 apartments.

Currently, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Construction to propose the construction of high-rise housing projects priced under VND2 billion to meet the housing needs of civil servants. At the same time, review legal regulations to advise the Provincial People's Committee to propose the Government to support the cost of renting and buying houses for civil servants who have to relocate after the merger.
