Dong Thap hopes to become a modern agricultural center in the Mekong Delta region.

Dong Thap strives to become a province with rapidly developing industry by 2030, a pioneer in building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers, and by 2045 to become a center of modern agriculture, a leading locality in a number of agricultural fields, developing advanced industry, and a livable place.

On the afternoon of September 24, Dong Thap province held a press conference to inform about preparations for the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

The 1st Provincial Party Congress took place over 2 days, from September 30 to October 1 at the Dong Thap Provincial Convention Center. This is an important political event of historical significance after Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces merged on July 1, opening a new development path with a noble stature, aspiration and mission.

The Congress was attended by 450 delegates, including 52 ex-officio delegates and 398 appointed delegates. The Congress focused on three main contents, without implementing the election process in the Congress and announcing the Politburo 's Decisions on appointing members to the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee; Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee, Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee, term 2025-2030.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, informed about the preparations for the 1st Provincial Party Congress.

In the 2020-2025 term, Dong Thap province has achieved and exceeded 17 targets, especially targets on environment, culture, society, and Party building. The average economic growth (GRDP) in the past 5 years reached 5.51%. The average GRDP per capita is estimated at 85.5 million VND. The state budget revenue increased by an average of 2.25% per year.

During the past term, Dong Thap province focused on implementing 6 breakthroughs in: Developing agricultural economy; investing in forming key products and driving forces; developing enterprises and startups; building infrastructure; developing human resources; administrative reform and Party building. The results have created great changes in many important areas.

With the theme "Building a clean and strong Party organization and political system; promoting innovation, rapidly developing industry, building a modern and ecological agriculture; improving the quality of people's lives; firmly ensuring national defense and security", the 1st Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee set out the motto of action: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development".

The Congress identified the principle of "Comprehensiveness - focus - connection - breakthrough and sustainable development" in implementing tasks and solutions in all fields and localities.

By 2045, Dong Thap will become a center of modern agriculture and eco-tourism in the Mekong Delta, a leading locality in the country in a number of agricultural fields, developing advanced industry, a livable place, where people have a prosperous and happy life.

The Congress set out 14 main targets, distributed across the fields of economy (4 targets), culture - society (5 targets), environment (3 targets) and Party building (2 targets), and at the same time identified 5 breakthrough tasks in transport infrastructure, agriculture, industry, human resources and science and technology; 5 groups of key tasks and solutions to successfully implement the proposed Resolution.
