Agreeing with the policy of merging administrative units.

Residents of Tien Cat ward are seeking information about the proposed administrative unit merger.

Comrade Duong Hoang Huong, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and Secretary of the Viet Tri City Party Committee, stated: The merger of provincial and commune-level administrative units, and the termination of district-level operations, is not merely a consolidation of provincial and commune-level administrative units, but also an important step to streamline the apparatus, enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, create room for development, maximize the potential and advantages of each locality, and promote rapid and sustainable socio -economic development.

According to the plan for reorganizing commune-level administrative units implemented by Viet Tri city, Viet Tri is reorganizing 20 administrative units to establish 5 new administrative units, including: Viet Tri ward, Thanh Mieu ward, Nong Trang ward, Van Phu ward, and Hy Cuong commune (reducing the number of administrative units by 15).

The formation of the new administrative unit is geographically undivided, close to the city center, and shares many similarities in economy, culture, and society, making it favorable for consolidation and aligning with development orientations. The city has also intensified information and communication efforts regarding the necessity and plan for reorganizing the commune-level administrative units and related issues to spread awareness and create consensus within the political system, especially gaining the trust and support of the people. Communes and wards have implemented the distribution of opinion polls to resident household representatives with a serious and responsible approach. At community cultural centers, lists of household representatives are publicly displayed for residents to access and monitor; opinion polls have been distributed directly to residents by community officials.

Mr. Ta Phu Tho, residing in Lien Minh area, Minh Phuong ward, expressed: “I completely agree and strongly support the Party and State's policy on merging administrative units at all levels, especially the reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Viet Tri. This is in line with the country's development trend, the local situation, and the aspirations of the people to create a streamlined, efficient, and effective administrative apparatus.”

Mr. Pham Xuan Ky from Mai Son area, Tien Cat commune, said: The Party branch has disseminated the policies, plans, and merger projects of the province and the city; raised the responsibility of the people in contributing to construction and received the consensus and support of the people. The naming of the new administrative units after the merger of communes and wards has also received great attention and high consensus from the people.

The selection of names for the commune-level administrative units has been thoroughly and carefully researched by Viet Tri City, taking into account traditional, historical, and cultural factors. Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Party Secretary and Head of Mai Son 2 residential area in Tien Cat ward, expressed his agreement and appreciation for the prompt and timely response from all levels in incorporating the opinions and aspirations of the people to unify the names of the new communes and wards after the reorganization of the commune-level administrative units. For example, the name Viet Tri ward (after the reorganization) is appropriate because Viet Tri City is currently a Type I urban area under the province, the political, cultural, and scientific and technological center of the province, and also the location of the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee, and various departments and agencies.

Listening to and soliciting public opinion during the administrative unit merger process has received strong support from the people, demonstrating their trust in the leadership of the Party and the State to firmly lead the country into a new era. This is an important foundation for Viet Tri to continue implementing the next steps in the administrative unit reorganization process. People expect that the new development space will create momentum for the socio-economic development of the locality and improve the lives of the people.
