Lao potash project - strategic driver of double-digit growth

Most of the production and business indicators of the Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem) in the first 9 months of 2025 increased sharply. In particular, the Potassium Salt Mining and Processing Project in Laos is of special importance to the Group's long-term sustainable development, and is expected to be a strategic driving force to help Vinachem achieve its double-digit growth target in the 2026-2030 period.

That was the emphasis of the member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem), Mr. Phung Quang Hiep in his speech at the Conference of the Prime Minister meeting with business representatives on the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day which was recently held.

Positive business growth results

In 2025, despite many difficulties facing the world and domestic economy , Vinachem still closely followed the Government's direction, focused resources on production and achieved positive results. Most of the Group's production and business targets in the first 9 months of 2025 increased sharply compared to the same period last year: industrial production value reached about 47,713 billion VND (up 16%), consolidated revenue was about 51,478 billion VND (up 16%), pre-tax profit was estimated at 2,980 billion VND, export value reached 489 million USD (up 16%).

Vinachem's production has well met domestic and export demand, with an output of 3 million tons of fertilizer, 3 million car tires, nearly 3 million motorbike tires and 236 thousand tons of detergent.

Potash Project in Laos – Strategic Driver and Fertilizer Plant Rehabilitation

Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Chemical Group Phung Quang Hiep emphasized: The project of exploiting and processing potash salt in Laos is of special importance to the long-term sustainable development of the Group, and is expected to be a strategic driving force to help Vinachem achieve its double-digit growth target in the period 2026-2030. The project is also important in terms of politics, diplomacy, defense and security, contributing to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Thanks to the drastic implementation of the restructuring plan for 3 fertilizer factory projects, all 3 factories have now returned to stable operation and profitable business (in 2024, there will still be a loss of more than 745 billion VND). Operating capacity has reached 80-94% of the design, fuel consumption standards have been reduced. All products produced have been consumed, contributing to ensuring national food security.

Proactively respond to natural disasters and support people

Facing the impact of La Nina and major storms, Vinachem has proactively made plans to prevent and control the damage, thereby avoiding human casualties and ensuring the safety of machinery and equipment. After storm No. 10, the Group launched a fundraising campaign to support people in the affected areas, demonstrating the social responsibility and sharing spirit of a State-owned enterprise.

The chemical industry – Vinachem’s field of operation – is identified by the Party and Government as one of the six fundamental industries of the economy. With the restructuring projects and 5-year investment and development plan approved by the Prime Minister, Vinachem affirms that it will continue to adhere to the orientation, complete the set goals at the highest level, promote the role of a State-owned enterprise, and actively contribute to the cause of innovation and development of the country.
