According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 6am this morning, January 22, the temperature in Hanoi was 14.2 degrees Celsius. From last night until this morning, Hanoi had been drizzling and cold.

According to some models of meteorological forecasting centers in the Asia- Pacific region, the temperature in Hanoi will drop further in the afternoon. The "bottom" temperature in Hanoi will be early tomorrow morning, January 23, dropping to only 7 degrees Celsius at around 7 am.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that based on the temperature bulletin published at 6am every day, schools and localities can balance and arrange schedules for preschool and primary school students to stay home from school to avoid the cold and ensure health safety. According to regulations, if the temperature drops below 10 degrees Celsius (very cold), schools will let students stay home.

The Meteorological Agency said that the widespread cold spell in the North and North Central regions could last for several days. During this widespread cold spell, snow and ice are likely to occur in mountainous areas.

On January 22, the entire North and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have rain. From January 22 to 24, the area from Ha Tinh to Phu Yen will have showers. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

From Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai heavy rain due to cold air

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that today, January 22, a strong cold air mass in the North will be strengthened and added to the South. From the afternoon and night of January 22, in the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, there will be showers and thunderstorms (locally heavy rain) with rainfall of 20-40mm, in some places over 50mm.
