Located at the southwestern gateway of Hai Phong City, Kien An District has a natural area of 29.6 km2. With a large land fund, Kien An has great potential for socio -economic development. The District always identifies urban development as one of the top important tasks to promote sustainable socio-economic development. In recent years, Kien An has made efforts to implement the urban development program, creating a new look, striving to become a modern city.
According to the report at the 16th Conference of the Kien An District Party Committee, in the first quarter of 2024, the district's socio-economic situation achieved many positive results. Economic indicators continued to grow compared to the same period.
Total retail sales of goods in the first 3 months of the year increased by 26.7% over the same period in 2023. In particular, the total state budget revenue in the area achieved high results (according to data up to March 31, 2024 of the Tax Department, the revenue exceeded 2% of the annual estimate assigned by the City, reaching 935% over the same period in 2023). Activities in the fields ofeducation - training, culture, sports, health, and social security achieved good results, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Chairman of Kien An District People's Committee, said that in recent years, the task of "promoting urban beautification and modernization" has been included in the district's annual work theme. From the beginning of 2024, the District People's Committee has focused on directing, operating, issuing the Annual Work Program, the Action Program to implement the Resolution of the District Party Committee and the District People's Council on the annual theme "Promoting urban beautification, attracting investment - Strengthening the implementation of social policies and digital transformation".
Urban beautification projects and works; site clearance for land use rights auction projects and public investment projects in the district are all on schedule.
The district has been actively implementing the investment program to build green parks in the period of 2021 - 2025; focusing on 4 flower and green gardens in the wards: Phu Lien, Nam Son, Lam Ha, Tran Thanh Ngo.
Key projects in the area such as: the road connecting Kha Lam carpentry village with Tru Khe street; upgrading the drainage system from the intersection of the bookstore on Tran Thanh Ngo street through Le Quoc Uy street to Ben Pha market to Lach Tray river; investing in the construction of the Kien An district Martyrs Memorial on Thien Van mountain... are all being implemented on schedule.
In Kien An district, there is a place that is popular with locals, especially young people, to “check in”, which is Phu Lien Observatory. Built in 1902 in French architecture, the Northeast Hydrometeorological Station and the Vietnam Astronomy Museum on the top of Thien Van hill are currently one of the most popular destinations. This tourist destination is the pride of the locals in the district and is being invested in, renovated and renovated by the district to attract more and more tourists.
The district has also coordinated with departments and branches to implement the Project of Construction of the Iron Market Commercial Center (new) in Lam Ha Ward. This will be a commercial service area invested in modern construction combined with tradition, synchronous technical infrastructure system, creating beautiful landscape, typical aesthetics for the Niem bridge area, contributing to the completion of Kien An district planning.
In addition, the detailed planning project at a scale of 1/500 for the New Urban Area and Urban Renovation Project of Dong Hoa Ward has also been approved. The District has successfully organized an auction of land use rights for housing purposes in Truong Chinh 5 residential group, Quan Tru Ward.
Currently, in Kien An district, there are many large, modern urban and housing development investment projects, such as the HP Elite Central Hai Phong Townhouse Project located on Bui Vien Street, Dong Hoa Ward, with a scale of 1.9 hectares; the New Urban Area and Urban Renovation Project in Dong Hoa Ward (Golden Point Urban Area) with a total area of 8.23 hectares... These projects, when completed, will contribute to creating a new urban appearance for Kien An district.
“With the spirit of solidarity, the Party Committee, government and people of Kien An district will focus on the tasks of socio-economic development, maintaining security and defense and building a strong political system,” Mr. Nguyen Truong Son emphasized.
