Amidst the scorching early summer sun beating down on the rubber plantations in the border region of Ia Mơ ( Gia Lai province), Ms. Truong Thi Kiem - a rubber tapping worker - still lingered after her shift to receive gifts from officers and soldiers of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade (15th Army Corps) during the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health.

The gift, though simple, embodies genuine sharing, offering some solace to the hardships of the laborers who spend their lives tending the orchards amidst the sun and wind of the border region.

From early morning, many underprivileged workers from production teams and farms were present. Some carried boxes of instant noodles still smelling of fresh paper, others carefully rearranged the gift packages, and still others cherished each essential item handed to them.

Interspersed throughout the meeting were thoughtful inquiries from the leaders of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade about the workers' work, income, health, and family life, making the atmosphere in this sun-drenched and windy border region feel more intimate and warm.

For the hardworking farmers on the farms, the gifts given during the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month not only provide material support but also serve as a source of moral encouragement, giving them peace of mind to work, care for their families, and continue to stay rooted in their land and villages in the border region.

Accordingly, the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade launched the 2026 Workers' Month with the theme: "Promoting the heroic traditions of the 15th Army Corps, cadres, union members and workers of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade: Innovation, creativity, responsibility, safety, and high efficiency," linked with a series of activities in response to the Action Month on occupational safety and hygiene, which were widely and practically implemented in production teams and farms in border areas.

Border workers express their joy upon receiving gifts from the 15th Army Corps and the 17th Economic-Defense Brigade.

Through these activities, the unit aims to comprehensively care for the material and spiritual lives of workers and employees; and at the same time build a safe and stable working environment so that employees can feel secure and committed to the unit.

The focus is on effectively implementing programs such as: "Bringing the Congress Resolution into Life," "Thanking the Workers," "Healthy for Work and Production," and the "May Dialogue" forum; along with emulation movements such as "Excellent Workers, Creative Workers," and "Skill Training and Excellent Craftsman Competitions"... These activities aim to improve labor productivity, working conditions, enhance occupational safety awareness, and provide further motivation for workers.

According to the plan, each departmental trade union will register and implement at least one practical project or task aimed at caring for the welfare of union members and workers. Beyond providing material support, these activities also aim to build a strong sense of camaraderie and sharing among workers who are stationed together in border areas.

Notably, grassroots trade unions are encouraged to organize "Connecting Hearts" programs, creating opportunities for workers to interact, get to know each other, and build happy families; while also caring for and supporting the children of workers, especially those from disadvantaged families.

In addition, the "Trade Union Shelter, Comradeship and Solidarity" housing construction and renovation program continues to be implemented to help trade union members and workers with particularly difficult circumstances gradually realize their dream of having a stable home and life so that they can work with peace of mind and remain committed to their unit in the long term.

Expressing her joy at the attention and encouragement from the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, Ms. Truong Thi Kiem emotionally shared: “I have been working here for more than 6 years. Every year, the leaders of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade and the 15th Army Corps show concern and care for the workers through very practical and meaningful activities and policies.”

The "Zero-Cost Stalls" have become practical points of sharing, ensuring that Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health are not just movement activities, but truly touch the lives of workers and people in border areas.

Those words of encouragement give us more motivation to work with peace of mind and remain committed to the unit. I am very grateful for the leaders' concern and will try my best to complete the assigned tasks well.”

With joy evident on the faces of the workers after their shift, nearly 300 gifts were personally handed out to the workers by officers and soldiers of the 710th Economic-Defense Brigade, including 50 gifts from the 15th Army Corps Command, with a total value of over 286 million VND.

This is material support, a genuine act of sharing and care for those who silently dedicate themselves to the farm day after day amidst many hardships. After that meeting, many workers felt more motivated and confident to continue working, building a better family life, and remaining committed to the company in the long term.

Along with the gift-giving activities, the unit also organized "Zero-Cost Booths" at many production teams with the joint support of local authorities, businesses, and philanthropists.

Here, thousands of essential supplies were distributed free of charge to workers and residents in the area, including 1 ton of pumpkins, 6 tons of squash, 100 boxes of instant noodles, 400 notebooks, over 0.3 tons of rice, 3 tons of used clothing, and many other essential items.

The footsteps were filled with joy and excitement as they received attention, encouragement, and gifts from their unit during Workers' Month 2026.

Amidst the sunny and windy days of May in the border region, the simple yet heartfelt "Zero-Cost Stalls" have become practical points of sharing, ensuring that Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health are not just movement activities, but truly touch the lives of workers and people in the border areas.

Lieutenant Colonel Vu Ba Thiet, Commander of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, stated: “Besides promoting technical improvements to enhance productivity and product quality, thereby increasing workers' income through the contract system, the unit also promotes and encourages workers to utilize land in invested forest areas and irrigation ditches to increase the production of short-term crops, contributing to improving living standards and ensuring a local food supply.”

In addition, during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), or difficult times, the unit implements many activities to care for its workers and employees both materially and spiritually.

We hope that workers will be more motivated, feel secure in their work and production, and remain committed to the unit in the long term; at the same time, we hope they will join hands with the local Party committee and government to maintain political security and border security in the area.”

Leaving the meeting, many workers could not hide their joy on their sun-tanned faces after days of hard work. The thoughtful gifts, sincere inquiries, and close attention from the officers and soldiers of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade helped alleviate the workers' difficulties and instilled in them confidence to remain committed to the farm and this challenging border region.
