The East-West Boulevard was inaugurated amidst the jubilation of local residents. The road connecting Buon Ma Thuot airport to the city center has been shortened, but more importantly, this project powerfully inspires the story of Buon Ma Thuot's new urban potential.
There is a striking similarity when looking at Buon Ma Thuot today and Da Nang in the years 2006-2009. While any comparison is flawed, the urbanization stories of these two regions share noteworthy similarities. Some urban planning experts observe that Da Nang, before 2009, also possessed a vibrant, ambitious spirit, aiming to become the economic capital of Central Vietnam and establish itself as a centrally-administered, first-class city. Buon Ma Thuot today also maintains that mindset, grappling with the challenges of developing its urban area to a new level.

What's very similar is that Da Nang once made efforts to invest in and open the East-West Boulevard connecting Da Nang Airport to the city center, gradually renovating the old city area thanks to the infrastructure expansion of this transportation route.
To date, Da Nang's East-West Boulevard has become Nguyen Van Linh Street, the most luxurious and spacious commercial artery in this coastal city. From the old East-West Boulevard, Da Nang has extended its vision for economic infrastructure investment across the Han River, with the famous Dragon Bridge and a connecting axis of Vo Van Kiet - Vo Nguyen Giap roads running to the Son Tra coastline. The face of a new city has gradually emerged with this progress.
Today, in the highlands, it is the turn of Buon Ma Thuot City to inaugurate the East-West Boulevard. Local investors and businesses consider this road to be unique, not only in shortening distances, but also in enhancing the urban stature of Buon Ma Thuot, a city that has never before seen such a spacious and well-developed road with such advantageous terrain along its route.
Near Buon Ma Thuot airport, one can envision a new space being renovated, transforming existing forestry projects into new urban areas in the not-too-distant future. In the city center, the East-West axis, with its intersecting roads like Le Duan and Dinh Tien Hoang, leads to new residential and urban areas currently undergoing planning adjustments. The city will have more opportunities to improve its infrastructure as commercial opportunities are activated following the East-West Boulevard.
What needs to be considered and prepared for is the management mindset of the various levels of government and relevant departments. There is very relevant advice being given by consultants, such as the need for Buon Ma Thuot City to steadfastly avoid inflating land prices and instead focus on investing in and effectively utilizing the land.
These are newly planned areas, and there will be investment strategies and policies to attract investors, enabling them to build service and product systems, from production to sales, in the most efficient way. Making good use of the structures built on the land, following the urban development trends of Buon Ma Thuot, so that these structures become investment destinations, opening up significant commercial business opportunities, is the goal of sustainable development.
If Buon Ma Thuot fails to emphasize this issue and allows the free market to inflate land prices, it will create a dangerous "land bubble" similar to what many provinces and cities have experienced before. Da Nang, after the East-West Highway was opened, also fell into this situation and is still struggling to resolve it. Buon Ma Thuot must avoid this costly lesson and rely on its local economic strength to exploit opportunities more effectively and accurately.

It can be said that with the opening of the major road in the heart of Buon Ma Thuot, the story of a promising city reaching new heights with new plans for trade, services such as logistics, packaging, advanced processing, and the application of new technologies to improve financial communication... has finally begun to be explored. The strength of the Central Highlands' economic capital has a bright spot to begin its transformation. This is truly a crucial issue that Buon Ma Thuot City needs to define.
Will this city be able to fully capitalize on the opportunities arising from the preferential policies approved by the central government, from the fact that the local investment economy has overcome challenges and is reaching new growth milestones, and from the current chaotic situation requiring control and prevention of adverse developments from the free market economy? These questions urgently need the attention of the local government and relevant agencies.
The opening of the East-West Boulevard is a key channel for economic investment that has been unleashed. If Buon Ma Thuot City seizes this opportunity, it will shine brightly in the highlands!
