Duong Quoc Hoang stops, Vietnam runs out of players at US Championship 2024

Before entering the round of 32 of the 9-ball billiards pool tournament US Championship 2024 in the US, Duong Quoc Hoang showed very good form at the tournament. In the round of 64, Quoc Hoang had a convincing victory over Spanish player - Jonas Souto with a score of 10-3.

Quoc Hoang's teammate Do The Kien also had a great match against Albin Ouschan (Austria), but still had to say goodbye to the tournament after a 7-10 loss.

Thus, Duong Quoc Hoang is the only Vietnamese player left in the tournament. He entered the round of 32 against former world champion Shane Van Boening from the US. This is a fateful match as the two have met 5 times before.

With good form and confidence, Duong Quoc Hoang took a 2-game lead. Although Shane Van Boening played very well in the first 2 games, his opponent was a better player. However, the spirit of the former world champion helped Shane Van Boening equalize 2-2 before leading 3-2.

Quoc Hoang's efforts helped him level the score at 3-3, but then he watched his opponent win 3 consecutive games to lead 6-3. With a safe distance, Shane Van Boening had the psychological advantage.

The American player was the overall winner with a score of 10-6, advancing to the round of 16, while Duong Quoc Hoang stopped playing.

The 2024 US Open Championship will take place from August 19 to August 24 in the US. Vietnam will have 7 players participating: Duong Quoc Hoang, Do The Kien, Pham Phuong Nam, Luong Duc Thien, Bui Truong An, Nguyen Hai Dang and Nguyen Manh Duc. This tournament has a prize fund of up to 300,000 USD, equivalent to 7.5 billion VND.
