QNgTV- Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) said that after more than 5 years of implementing decrees on traffic safety, the industry has removed more than 1,350 self-opened crossings, built 15 new level crossings, 2 underpasses and more than 25km of service roads and protective fences.
In the latest report on the implementation of Prime Minister 's Directive No. 22/2025 on strengthening solutions to ensure railway order and safety in the new situation, Vietnam Railways Corporation said that after more than 5 years of implementing the Government's decrees on land protection, infrastructure and railway traffic safety, the industry has achieved certain results.
From 2020 to August 31, 2025, the entire industry has eliminated more than 1,350 self-opened walkways, built 15 new level crossings, 2 underpasses and more than 25km of service roads and protective fences. However, this number is still modest compared to the plan.
Faced with that reality, the Prime Minister issued Directive 22, requesting VNR to step up measures to ensure railway traffic safety. Immediately after that, the Party Committee, Board of Members and General Director of VNR issued a document mobilizing the entire political and professional system to join in.
According to VNR leaders, the focus in the coming time is to step up propaganda so that people living along both sides of the railway strictly comply with traffic safety regulations; at the same time, organize professional training for forces on guard duty and guard posts.
In addition, the industry will review and strengthen infrastructure, focusing on weak points with potential accident risks; apply science and technology in monitoring, warning and train operation.
Notably, VNR also aims to soon complete the demarcation of railway land boundaries and hand them over to local authorities for management; and replicate propaganda models such as "I love my hometown's railway" and "The road our grandparents and grandchildren take care of together" to raise community awareness.
Strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations, especially those that cut procedures of staff directly serving train operations; resolutely clarify collective and individual responsibilities if incidents or accidents occur due to subjective causes.
