Demand for air conditioning increased sharply last June

Recently, some customers have reported a sudden increase in their electricity bills for June 2025.

Therefore, EVN requires Power Corporations to direct their member companies to seriously review cases where customers have unusually increased electricity output or payment amounts in the June 2025 billing period. Units need to promptly provide information and clear explanations to customers.

At the same time, clearly explain to customers how to calculate electricity bills for June 2025; disseminate information about changes in issuing invoices, managing contracts and collecting electricity bills of power companies before and after the merger; provide information on solutions to monitor daily/monthly electricity indexes and instructions on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity...

EVN also requires the leaders of the Electricity Corporation and the director of the electricity company to directly instruct and discuss with customers or assign staff with adequate knowledge and skills to answer customers' requests when receiving feedback about unusually increased bills.

Directors of power companies must be responsible to the Electricity Corporation and EVN for the results of resolving customer complaints. Units need to provide full information on electricity consumption during the billing period, and clearly explain how to calculate the bill, especially for households using electricity for domestic purposes.

Previously, regarding the issue of electricity usage during the peak hot months, Hanoi Electricity Corporation (EVNHANOI) said that last June recorded an average temperature increase in Hanoi of 2-6 degrees Celsius compared to May. In particular, there were days when the peak hot days recorded outdoor temperatures of up to 41 degrees Celsius.

Prolonged high temperatures increase the demand for electricity, especially cooling devices such as air conditioners, fans and refrigerators. Moreover, when students' summer vacation coincides with the peak of the heat, it leads to continuous use of air conditioners and electrical appliances day and night.

"High temperatures not only increase the frequency of electricity usage but also cause cooling devices to consume more energy to maintain operating efficiency. When the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors is large, the air conditioner must operate continuously, with few interruptions, leading to increased electricity consumption even though the usage time remains unchanged," EVNHANOI further explained.
