Among the list of 101 outstanding grassroots trade union chairmen nationwide in 2026, honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor at the ceremony commemorating the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026), Tran Doan Thanh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1), is a prime example, leaving his mark with his dedication and innovative spirit in trade union activities.

The honor bestowed upon Tran Doan Thanh, Chairman of the EVNGENCO1 Trade Union, is a well-deserved recognition of his persistent efforts, responsibility, and effectiveness in organizing and implementing trade union activities. This title is not only an honor for him personally but also contributes to affirming the position, prestige, and effectiveness of the EVNGENCO1 Trade Union.

The effectiveness of dialogue and care for workers.

EVNGENCO1 currently has over 4,200 employees working at numerous power plants nationwide. Over the years, collective bargaining and dialogue have been implemented systematically and effectively. During the 2023-2025 period, 100% of employee requests arising from these dialogues have been resolved definitively.

Many issues directly related to the lives of workers have been addressed and adjusted, such as improving meal allowances, enhancing the quality of occupational safety and health, and improving working conditions in factories located far from urban centers. This practical approach has helped dialogues become increasingly in-depth, creating a space for workers to frankly share their concerns, while the Trade Union persistently monitors and urges the resolution of these issues.

In addition to regular dialogues, thematic dialogues on occupational safety and women's rights have been strengthened; on-site inspections and the application of electronic operating systems have been promoted, contributing to bridging the gap between workers and unit leaders and improving management efficiency.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented gifts to 10 outstanding delegates among the 101 excellent grassroots trade union chairpersons nationwide in 2026.

The image of Trade Union Chairman Tran Doan Thanh personally present at workshops and construction sites, listening to and discussing with workers, has become familiar. He also directly participated in and chaired many collective labor agreement negotiations, adding more favorable terms for workers and bringing practical benefits to all staff and employees.

Notably, for many years, EVNGENCO1 has not experienced any prolonged labor disputes or illegal strikes; any arising issues have been resolved promptly through dialogue and negotiation at the grassroots level.

The role of trade unions in corporate governance and culture.

Alongside dialogue, the EVNGENCO1 Trade Union actively participates in management mechanisms such as salary councils, emulation and reward systems, salary regulation development, recruitment, and labor regulations. Through this, the voices of workers are reflected right from the policy-making process.

Training and skill development for grassroots trade union officials is emphasized; activities to disseminate labor laws are regularly implemented, contributing to raising awareness and compliance among workers.

The labor and production emulation movements continue to be effectively maintained, contributing to raising the sense of responsibility, discipline, and creativity of the staff and workers, and making practical contributions to the production and business results of the Corporation.

Besides outstanding achievements in trade union work, the Chairman of the EVNGENCO1 Trade Union has also been recognized with many prestigious awards such as the Third-Class Labor Medal (in 2025) and Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union in 2023 and 2024.

Notably, he was one of the 10 outstanding delegates among the 101 excellent grassroots trade union chairmen nationwide in 2026, and was honored to receive a gift from the Vice President at the Presidential Palace – a mark affirming his prestige and outstanding contributions to the Vietnamese trade union system.

The title of Outstanding and Exemplary Trade Union Chairman at the grassroots level nationwide is not only a recognition of the individual Chairman of the EVNGENCO1 Trade Union, but also a testament to the solid foundation of the trade union's activities at the unit.
