The Meta-owned platform has been experiencing issues since this morning (7-7, UK time). Reports on DownDetector, a website that monitors internet service performance, also show that Meta's other platforms - Facebook and Instagram - are experiencing similar issues.

At one point in the UK, a peak of 520 people reported incidents, but that has now dropped to just over 400.

The problem was reported in the US at 2:08 p.m. local time, affecting 351 accounts. "Reports on DownDetector of problems in the US are continuing to increase after a brief dip earlier this afternoon," The Sun reported. "However, some users in both the UK and the US are complaining on social media."

The issue of not being able to send messages, images and videos on Meta's platform is having a big impact on users.

“What is going on with Facebook Messenger. I use messenger for my business but now I can’t send any product images,” one person said.

Many Facebook users in Vietnam also reported that they could not send photos to friends via Messenger messages on both the app and the web.

On groups, many users also complained about the same situation. Meanwhile, Meta has not given an explanation about the cause of the problem.

The incident shows that in less than a month, the Messenger application has encountered errors twice. Previously, on June 16, Vietnamese users were also unable to view the content of newly sent messages.

In March, Meta’s service encountered a message recall bug. In April, a series of users had their Facebook and Messenger accounts locked for unknown reasons and took days to recover.

Notably, this Messenger incident occurred just one day after Meta launched its text chat app Threads.

Threads' interface is a mix of Instagram and Twitter, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said 30 million people signed up for the new app in 24 hours.
