Ferdinand: 'McTominay is worth £100m'

Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has praised Scott McTominay's talent as the midfielder shines in Serie A.

“If his name was McSaucio, it would be £100m. But because he is Scott McTominay and from Scotland, no one talks about the huge transfer fee, or Real Madrid's interest in him,” Ferdinand analyzed.

McTominay has been instrumental in Napoli winning their second Serie A title in three years. In his first season in Italy, the midfielder scored 12 goals in 34 domestic league games. He was also named Serie A Player of the Season.

Ferdinand pointed out that previous Manchester United managers, such as Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag, had not used McTominay in his best position. He said: "McTominay's position at Napoli is a big change. You have to respect his strengths. Scott is playing to his best qualities."

McTominay himself admitted that he was used in the wrong position when he played for MU. He said: "When I came to the first team, I was misjudged in my position. It's not the coaches' fault. My strengths have always been to get into the penalty area, score goals and cause problems for the opponent."
