VHO - The Vietnamese women's football team lost 0-2 to the Portuguese women's team in the second match of Group E of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, thereby being eliminated early after this match. However, with their efforts and attempts throughout the match, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team deserve praise.

The Vietnamese women's team lost 0-3 to the US and 0-2 to Portugal, but the players showed commendable efforts, especially their fighting spirit in their first appearance at the World Cup.

“The Vietnamese women’s team failed to make it past the group stage, but their players can be proud of their efforts in their first World Cup. They fought hard against high-level opponents and proved that they deserved to be on the world stage,” an article on the FIFA website commented on the Vietnamese women’s team after the match against Portugal.

The Vietnamese women's team attacked Portugal. This created conditions for the opponent to score in the 7th minute before adding a second goal in the 21st minute. In the final minutes of the match, the Vietnamese players tried to attack but against Portugal's focused defense, the Vietnamese women's team could not create any opportunities or shots.

In the report on the match between the Vietnamese women's team and Portugal, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) homepage praised the fighting spirit of coach Mai Duc Chung's players: "In their first World Cup participation, the Vietnamese players played their best throughout the match against Portugal... Despite being down 0-2 after only 21 minutes, the "Golden Star female warriors" still rallied their squad and demonstrated a calm and resilient defensive counterattack."

After two consecutive losses, the Vietnamese women's team has been officially eliminated from the group stage. On August 1, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will play their final match against the Netherlands women's team - the reigning World Cup runner-up. This is a match in which fans expect Huynh Nhu and her teammates to continue to demonstrate their fighting spirit, continuing to bring the image of resilient and indomitable Vietnamese women to international friends.
