Yesterday (July 29), U23 Vietnam became the champion of the U23 Southeast Asian Championship after defeating U23 Indonesia 1-0 in the final match at Bung Karno Stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by midfielder Nguyen Cong Phuong in the 36th minute.

However, in just a moment, Cong Phuong broke the deadlock with a decisive shot in the 37th minute. That was also the only goal of the match. U23 Vietnam continued to show its strength when winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship for the third consecutive time.

The Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) website commented: “Vietnam U23 has excellently won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship after a 1-0 victory over Indonesia U23. They have continued their success when they were crowned champions of this tournament in 2022 and 2023.
U23 Indonesia became the victim of U23 Vietnam when they lost in two consecutive finals of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament.
After winning the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 will prepare for two important tournaments ahead: the Asian U23 qualifying round in September and the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.
