FPT 'offers advice' on realizing the dream of Vietnam's semiconductor industry

In 2024, FPT will enroll about 1,500 people to study semiconductors at university, college, and international certification levels, creating an important human resource foundation for the future.

At the first meeting of the National Steering Committee on Semiconductor Industry Development held at the Government Headquarters, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, General Director of FPT IS, FPT Corporation said that in 2024, the Corporation has actively promoted activities in this field. Specifically, FPT actively participated in the construction of the semiconductor industry in the fields of human resource training, research and development and international cooperation. In 2024 alone, FPT had about 200 design engineers working with about 30 customers in 3 countries - Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam. In the fieldof education and training alone, in 2024, FPT enrolled 1,500 students. Notably, FPT cooperated with Nvidia to import the first batch of goods and build the first AI Factory in Vietnam and Japan. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that now is a favorable opportunity and requested ministries and branches to urgently implement the "Program for Human Resource Development for the Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050" and the "Strategy for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry to 2030". Previously, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 791/QD-TTg on the establishment of the National Steering Committee for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry. To realize the dream of Vietnam's semiconductor industry, FPT representatives proposed that the Steering Committee have a strategy to build the image of Vietnam as the number one country in semiconductor human resources in the region and the world. Vietnam leads ASEAN in the number of newly opened chip design companies (including startups and foreign research and development centers opened in our country). Vietnam is also a leader in the region in chip testing technology. "We have good relationships with major countries and need to continue to maintain these relationships to create joint venture opportunities with major enterprises in the world in the semiconductor sector. To develop the education sector, it is necessary to build cooperative relationships with governments of countries, including Japan," said FPT representative Nguyen Hoang Minh.
