On the evening of November 29th, the MAMA 2025 awards ceremony was held at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong. G-Dragon's performance has become a hot topic of discussion on social media.
On stage, BIGBANG's leader performed a series of hits that made his name, such as "Heartbreaker " and "Untitled 2014." The performances were spectacularly staged with stunning visuals. However, the audience debated G-Dragon's vocals. Many opinions suggested that the singer sang too little live, mostly relying on background music and pre-recorded vocals. G-Dragon's voice was also criticized for lacking power, appearing breathless, and ultimately disappointing.
However, others defended him, arguing that G-Dragon tried his best to deliver a great performance despite technical issues. Fans pointed out that he was constantly adjusting his in-ear monitors during the performance, possibly due to sound problems. Some accounts even released fancam clips, claiming that the singer's performance wasn't as bad as what was circulating online.

The controversy intensified when, immediately after the awards ceremony, the official MAMA Instagram account posted a video capturing moments of G-Dragon's stage performances. In the comments section, the BIGBANG leader caused a stir by leaving a "dislike" emoji. This move immediately sparked discussion among netizens. Many opinions suggested that the 1988-born music star was also unhappy with his own performances.
At the 2025 MAMA Awards, G-Dragon was named Artist of the Year (Daesang). Not only did he win one of the three most important awards at MAMA, but the singer also set a record by becoming the first solo artist in MAMA Awards history to be honored twice in this category (the first time was in 2013).
Earlier, G-Dragon donated HK$1 million to the Wang Fuk Court Support Fund in Tai Po, to help mitigate the consequences and support residents affected by the apartment fire that shocked public opinion in recent days.
