G-Dragon causes controversy

The owner of the hit "Heartbreaker" was embroiled in controversy regarding his performance on the MAMA 2025 stage. The male singer also expressed disappointment with this performance.

On the evening of November 29, the 2025 MAMA awards ceremony was held at Kai Tak Stadium, Hong Kong. G-Dragon's performance has become a hot topic of discussion on social media.

On stage, the BIGBANG leader brought a series of hits that made his name such as Heartbreaker , Untitled 2014... The performances were staged magnificently with eye-catching visuals. However, the audience argued about G-Dragon's singing voice. Many opinions said that the male singer sang too little live, mostly with background music and pre-recorded vocals. G-Dragon's voice was also commented to be lacking in power, out of breath and disappointing.

However, others defended G-Dragon, saying that he tried to complete the performance as best as possible despite the technical problems. Fans pointed out that he kept adjusting his in-ear headphones during the performance, which could have caused audio problems. Some accounts even released fancam clips, claiming that the singer's performance was not as bad as what was being spread online.

The controversy escalated when, right after the awards ceremony, MAMA's official Instagram account posted a video recording G-Dragon's moments on stage. In the comment section, the BIGBANG leader caused a stir by leaving a "dislike" icon. This move immediately attracted discussion from netizens. Many opinions said that the music star born in 1988 was also not satisfied with his performances.

At MAMA 2025, G-Dragon was named Artist of the Year (Daesang). Not only did he win one of the three most important awards at MAMA, the male singer also set a record by becoming the first solo artist in MAMA Awards history to be honored twice in this category (first time in 2013).

Previously, G-Dragon donated 1 million HKD to the Wang Fuk Court Support Fund in Tai Po, to help overcome the consequences and support residents affected by the apartment fire that has shocked public opinion in recent days.
