On June 1, localities in the province simultaneously organized vitamin A supplementation for children aged 6-35 months. This is the first day of the first vitamin A supplementation campaign for children in 2023 launched by the Ministry of Health (the campaign will be held on June 1-2, 2023). As of 4:00 p.m. on June 1, nearly 117,300 children in the province had received vitamin A, reaching a rate of over 98%.
Leaders of the Provincial Center for Disease Control inspected the implementation of the vitamin A supplementation campaign for children.
Vitamin A is a micronutrient that plays an important role in the health and comprehensive development of children. Timely supplementation of vitamin A will help improve vitamin A deficiency and prevent malnutrition in young children. In addition to giving children vitamin A, localities also organize height and weight measurements of children to assess the rate of stunting, malnutrition, overweight and obesity.
It is expected that in December 2023, the second vitamin A supplementation campaign for children will be held in provinces and cities across the country.
