Nearly 140 scientists share research on physics

VnExpressVnExpress13/10/2023

Binh Duong Vietnamese and international scientists introduced 114 new studies on optical technology, geology, astronomy... at the 8th Conference on Physics and Engineering Physics.

The conference was organized by the Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Vietnam-Germany University on October 13 and 14. Of the 114 research papers reported at the conference, there were 26 main reports and 44 poster reports introducing results on topics such as optics, geological measurements, remote sensing, plasma, nuclear engineering, etc.

Professor Nguyen Dai Hung, President of the Vietnam Physics Association, said that the research reports at the conference are part of the Vietnam physics development program for the 2015-2020 and 2021-2025 periods. He assessed that the works have high research content with advances in applied physics, as well as physical influences and effects on a number of natural sciences such as medicine, biomedicine, energy, lighting, semiconductor materials... that are currently of interest.

At the conference, the group of authors from Can Tho University, Western Construction and Tay Do introduced a research project using an optimal algorithm to determine the depth of sedimentary basins. According to PhD student Nguyen Ngan Giang (Can Tho University), the group used geological drilling data sources to build an algorithm to detect sedimentary basins as well as their depths on the software. This research has high accuracy, with an error of less than 10% when compared with actual drill data.

According to Mr. Giang, this research helps to explore minerals deep underground, as well as analyze and evaluate fault zones to predict earthquakes, landslides, etc. to warn people. In addition, the group expects this algorithm to help predict the depth of sedimentary basins in areas with difficult terrain, in order to arrange and use appropriate means and equipment in exploration.

In addition, other research was introduced such as the scientific work on black hole shadows by Dr. Satoki Matsushita, Institute of Astrophysics, Taiwan. Research on APRI and X-rays in multilayer materials by Prof. Do-Kyeong KO from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (Korea).

The Physics and Engineering Physics Conference is held every two years to enhance domestic and international cooperation in science and technology between research units, helping to promote the application of research results to the development of engineering physics, expanding cooperation in human resource training... Research results are introduced by international experts from research institutes and universities in Korea, France, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia...
