The outstanding achievements of Hong Van Border Guard Post in implementing the emulation movement "Border Guards joining forces to build new rural areas" include: coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to mobilize philanthropists to build one primary school and 12 solidarity houses for the poor in the area, as well as playgrounds for students; contributing more than 500 man-days to building and repairing rural roads, constructing and repairing houses, many classrooms, and houses of people affected by natural disasters.
The unit also coordinated with philanthropists and organizations to donate hundreds of gifts worth nearly 300 million VND to poor households, families entitled to preferential policies, and single-parent households in the area under its responsibility; implemented many models to help people develop their economy and stabilize their lives, with support in providing thousands of chickens, ducks, and piglets; and coordinated with local authorities to maintain the "Community Tourism - accompanying the poor" model…
According to Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Ha, Commander of the Hong Van Border Guard Post, Major Nguyen Thanh Thai has made a significant contribution to the unit's achievements. "In his capacity as Deputy Political Officer, Major Thai, along with the community mobilization team, coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to annually identify key priorities and criteria for each locality to implement effectively and appropriately. Major Thai personally actively mobilized and encouraged the people to play a leading role, donating land, contributing labor, and working together to build rural infrastructure with the motto 'The State and the People work together'; he also promoted and encouraged people to change the structure of crops and livestock, alter farming practices, and apply scientific and technological advancements to production."
“Speaking and acting in unison, Major Thai actively coordinated with local authorities in the area under his unit's responsibility to promote activities that help people develop socio-economic conditions, such as donating breeding cows and goats to disadvantaged households; and closely monitoring and guiding the cultivation of bananas, hybrid corn, and rice... so that people can proactively and confidently expand production and increase their income. Major Thai effectively implemented the "four together" principle in villages and communes, coordinating with village elders, influential people, and commune officials to effectively disseminate information, which was actively supported by the people in the New Rural Development movement,” affirmed Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Ha.
Having followed Major Nguyen Thanh Thai to the households in the villages of A Nieng Le Trieng 1, Dut Le Trieng 2, etc., I further understood the heartfelt appreciation shared by the Commander of the Hong Van Border Guard Post about the young deputy political officer of the unit. The families of Ms. Ho Thi Nam, Ms. Can Hong, and many other disadvantaged households received support from the post in the form of piglets; from the initial pair of pigs, they have raised many litters.
Mr. Ho Van Nhan and his wife received support from Mr. Thai in the form of duck and pig breeding stock, and have now "multiplied" their pig herd, reaching a peak of 10 pigs; and nearly 100 ducks. Mr. Nhan's joyful smile and the firm handshake between Mr. Thai and Major Thai served as an affirmation of the close bond between the military and the people; a commitment to striving for economic development and building a prosperous and thriving border village.
Lieutenant Colonel Cao Chi Luyen, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the City Border Guard Command, highly appreciated the contributions of Major Nguyen Thanh Thai. With the efforts of Major Thai in particular and the collective of Hong Van Border Guard Post in general, the locality has contributed to reducing the number of poor and near-poor households in the period 2021-2025, gradually achieving the criteria for New Rural Development.
