Vietnam has 11 main export items to Indonesia, rice is the "champion"

According to the General Department of Customs, in the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam had 11 export items to Indonesia, reaching over 100 million USD with a total turnover of 2.21 billion USD, accounting for 76% of the export value to this Southeast Asian country. The leading export item was rice, reaching 444 million USD, up 82% over the same period last year. Next were phones and components, textiles, textile raw materials, iron and steel, chemicals, plastic raw materials, coffee, seafood, vegetables and fruits... which are the main export items to Indonesia. Recently, the Indonesian Government decided to increase the rice import quota in 2024 by 1.6 million tons and this is an opportunity to increase exports for Vietnamese rice. In the last half of the year, many export enterprises predict that among the main products exported to this market, rice will continue to have advantages when the demand for rice imports has just been forecast by the National Food Agency of Indonesia to increase to 5.18 million tons in the whole year of 2024 instead of the previously announced 3.6 million tons.
