Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment , Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien reported to the retired officials of the Ministry's agencies on the achievements of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in 2023. Accordingly, in the past year, closely following the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the entire Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has made great efforts and determination in handling work, ensuring that the state management activities of the Ministry and the industry are smooth and consistent, especially in the context of the Ministry's leadership changes and transfers. Many important results have been recognized by the leaders of the Party and State and highly appreciated by the people.
Notably, the establishment of a legal system on natural resources and environment that is increasingly synchronous, unified, and put into practice; proactively and promptly implementing solutions to ensure input factors for the economy such as land, production, water resources, information, hydrometeorological data to serve production and business, and develop the country's strategic infrastructure. In the past year, the National Assembly passed the Law on Water Resources (amended) and most recently on January 18, 2024, the National Assembly passed the Law on Land (amended).
Along with that, the effectiveness of implementing policies and laws on environmental protection has been increasingly improved, clearly demonstrated through positive changes in the implementation of responsibilities of authorities at all levels, businesses, investors and people's awareness of environmental issues.
Digital transformation and database development in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have received investment attention, contributing to improving the efficiency of state management, providing public services, and resolving administrative procedures for people and businesses. According to the ranking report assessing the level of digital transformation in 2022, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment ranked 3rd out of 17 ministries and ministerial-level agencies (with public services).
Over the past year, the Ministry has proactively forecasted early, with sufficient detail and high reliability in warning of heavy rains, storms, floods on rivers and extreme weather patterns. It has proactively implemented strategies and plans on responding to climate change, equitable energy transition, and attracting foreign investment for the development of renewable energy and clean energy.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien also added that at the 2023 summary conference of the Natural Resources and Environment sector taking place on December 31, 2023, the Natural Resources and Environment sector was honored to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend and direct the conference. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended and highly appreciated the efforts, innovation, creativity in leadership, direction, administration and the achievements of the Natural Resources and Environment sector in 2023. At the same time, the Prime Minister directed and oriented the Natural Resources and Environment sector on important tasks that need to be focused on in 2024.
Fully aware of the role and importance of the State management tasks of the Industry in this new period, according to Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien, from the beginning of 2024, the collective leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the heads of agencies and units in the Industry have focused on directing and specifying the goals, tasks, and solutions within the functions and tasks of the Ministry and the Industry in the Resolutions of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, and the Government. The entire Industry will focus all resources to implement with high political determination, creating changes and breakthroughs this year and in the coming years,...
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien also expressed his gratitude to the contributions of retired cadres who have contributed to the development of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in recent times, and at the same time hoped to continue receiving the attention and contributions of previous generations of cadres to the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment so that the Ministry as well as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment can develop more strongly and sustainably, meeting the expectations of the Party, Government and People.
On behalf of retired cadres of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Pham Trung Luong, Head of the Retirees Liaison Committee of the Ministry's Agencies, expressed his joy at the results that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have achieved in 2023, and expressed his sincere thanks for the deep affection and concern of the leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and civil servants and public employees of the Ministry's agencies for retired cadres.
