This is an app that has been tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), allowing users to record their heart rate and check for signs of irregular heartbeat (AFib) directly from their smartwatch on their wrist. Users can use the app to record an electrocardiogram (ECG) in 30 seconds and view the heart rate results immediately on the watch or choose to view them later in the Garmin Connect app on their smartphone.
The Electrocardiogram (ECG) application has been clinically tested and is FDA-cleared.
"We are thrilled to bring the ECG app to a wider range of customers, including users of flagship smartwatches like the epix Pro and fēnix 7 Pro. Garmin is proud to offer premium health features across all of its smartwatches. Through this groundbreaking tool, our customers can conveniently record an ECG whenever they want, proactively monitoring their health anytime," shared Dan Bartel, Vice President of Global Consumer at Garmin.
When a user performs an electrocardiogram (ECG), the ECG app uses built-in sensors on their compatible smartwatch to record electrical signals representing the heartbeat. The app then analyzes this recording to detect signs of an irregular heartbeat. Additionally, they can synchronize the results with Garmin Connect, allowing them to view their history and create reports that can be shared with their healthcare provider.
The ECG app is currently available on epix Pro, fēnix 7 Pro, Venu 3, and quatix 7 series smartwatches for customers in Vietnam, requiring the latest version of the Garmin Connect smartphone app and smartwatch software before use.
