During the flood season, Tan Lap floating village is like an oasis hidden under the cajuput forests in the sea of water.
About 100km from Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Lap floating village is located on National Highway 62 through Tan Lap commune, Moc Hoa district, Long An province. The total area of the floating village is about 135 hectares, located in the central region of Dong Thap Muoi. With its charming natural scenery and vast cajuput forests, Tan Lap floating village is gradually becoming an unmissable destination for tourists when visiting Long An province.

Explaining the name of the floating village, many people who used to live here said that this land used to be flooded all year round, so the local people's house style was mostly stilt houses. Every time the water level rose, the houses were also raised to the water level. Over time, people got used to calling this area "floating village". Currently, Tan Lap floating village has been planned by the government to become an eco -tourism area and there are no more residents living here.
Tan Lap floating village is most beautiful during the flood season from August to December. When the water returns, lotus and water lilies will begin to bloom in the fields surrounding the floating village. The white seascape gradually becomes dotted with the pink of lotus and water lilies, blending with the lush green of the cajuput forest canopy, creating an extremely peaceful and tranquil scene.


Ms. Huynh Ngoc Han, born in 1996, a tourist visiting Tan Lap floating village, shared her experience: “The floating village in the flood season is so beautiful and poetic. I got to experience catching fish with bamboo nets and cycling through the cajuput forest.
We had sour soup and braised fish in a clay pot at a restaurant next to a lotus pond, then rowed a sampan to see the flooded fields. We also got to ride a motorboat to explore the cajuput forest.

To get a panoramic view, visitors can climb up to the 38m high observation tower in the middle of the cajuput forest. At this height, the floating village will appear like a green raft in the vast sea. In addition, visitors can choose to experience rowing a sampan through the cajuput forest to see Tan Lap floating village from a different perspective.

Visitors can also choose to travel along the path through the cajuput forest to see birds and storks. This path is a small road located in the middle of the cajuput forest with a width of 1m, the total length when combining the small roads is 5km. Famous for its poetic and romantic scenery, the path through the cajuput forest is the most checked-in place for tourists when visiting Tan Lap floating village.

The bird breeding garden in Tan Lap floating village is a separate island, located deep in the cajuput forest. This place is where bird care and breeding experts create a suitable living environment to attract many types of birds and storks in the wild to gather here to live and form large flocks.


The island currently has thousands of birds and storks coming to forage, contributing greatly to the conservation of precious animals and plants, and endemic birds in Tan Lap floating village.
The entrance fee to Tan Lap floating village eco-tourism area is 70,000 VND/person. The sampan service is 70,000 VND/person; the boat tour, cable boat tour is 80,000 VND/person along with many other service packages with listed prices. Regarding accommodation, visitors can choose a 2-star hotel room right at the tourist area or nearby hotels.
