With a sharp increase last week, domestic coffee prices are currently at their highest level in the past 2.5 months.

Exports have slowed down due to high prices and global economic uncertainty, with many warehouses also temporarily suspending purchases in anticipation of new supplies in October-November and clearer market signals. Exporters are now offering grade 2 robusta coffee (5% black broken) at a price 400-500 USD/ton higher than the November futures contract on LIFFE.
World coffee prices today
On the London exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed last week at $4,201/ton, up 18% ($640/ton) from the previous week. The November 2025 futures contract increased 15.9% ($557/ton), reaching $4,067/ton.
Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery increased by 11% (34 US cents/pound) last week, to 343.35 US cents/pound. The December 2025 futures contract increased by 10.5% (31.8 US cents/pound), to 334.2 US cents/pound.
Coffee prices rose sharply last week, hitting a two-month high. Technical buying and short-term profit-taking were the main reasons. In just one week, Arabica prices rose 10.4% and Robusta rose 18%. Severe weather with frost in Brazil, reduced exports and reduced inventories on ICE added to the rebound in coffee prices.
In the US, Brazilian coffee is still subject to a 50% export tax and has not been exempted. This policy is likely to reduce Brazilian sales to the US market and increase domestic inventories.
The tariffs could increase the retail price of ground coffee in the U.S. by 15% to 20%, according to Bernstein analyst Danilo Gargiulo. In that context, many importers may turn to alternative sources such as Vietnam and Colombia, creating opportunities for those markets to expand exports.
In fact, even before the tariffs were imposed, global coffee prices were already rising due to adverse weather in major producing countries. In 2024, coffee prices increased by an average of 38.8% compared to the previous year, according to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This trend shows that the coffee market is still full of unpredictable fluctuations.
