In the Central Highlands provinces, the weather since the beginning of the year has been very favorable for coffee trees to grow. Most coffee gardens are growing well, with few pests or diseases. If proper care is continued, this crop's yield is expected to be higher than last year's. The harvest is expected to begin in October with the prospect of both a good harvest and good prices.

Vietnamese coffee has a big advantage. Before the EU ban on deforestation-related products officially comes into effect at the end of the year, many European corporations and importers are likely to increase their purchases from Vietnam to ensure their supply.

According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, coffee export turnover in the first half of August reached nearly 225 million USD with a volume of 41,745 tons. This figure shows that the amount of coffee exported continues to have a downward trend compared to before.

As of August 26, 2025, Robusta coffee inventories reached 66,110 tons, the lowest level in a month and down from 70,120 tons at the end of July. Arabica inventories monitored by ICE also fell to the lowest level in 1.25 years, only 716,578 bags. Experts recommend that people need to closely monitor market fluctuations to sell appropriately, because the risk of short-term price declines still exists.

World coffee prices today

On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed at $5,069/ton, up 0.24% ($12/ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 futures contract fell 0.98% ($48/ton) to $4,830/ton.

Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery decreased by 1.37% (4.45 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 389.35 US cents/pound. The December 2025 futures contract decreased by 2.04% (6.85 US cents/pound), to 378.45 US cents/pound.

In mid-August 2025, world coffee prices increased sharply due to unfavorable weather, escalating production costs and the risk of the United States imposing a 50% tax on coffee imported from Brazil. These are factors that are making the global coffee market more exciting than ever.

Robusta coffee prices rose sharply, reaching a two-month high, as bad weather in Brazil’s main growing regions raised concerns about the new crop’s output. At the same time, data showed that Brazilian coffee exports in July 2025 had dropped significantly, adding to the pressure on prices.

Another concern is the possibility of the US imposing import tariffs of up to 50% on Brazilian coffee. Although not yet official, the policy, if implemented, would increase costs in the world’s largest consumer market, forcing roasters to increase stocks or seek new sources of supply.

In addition, a weaker US dollar and rising transportation and production costs have also contributed to the price increase. Coffee prices are expected to remain high in the short term. This price increase has also stimulated supply from other producers such as Indonesia.
