Domestic coffee prices updated on November 19, 2024 |
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), Robusta coffee currently accounts for 95% of the coffee growing area in our country. This means that Vietnam is holding a large amount of Robusta coffee supply in the world market. Especially at the present time, when other major coffee producing countries have not entered the harvest season or are harvesting with limited output, Vietnamese coffee has the advantage.
According to experts, Robusta coffee is in a period of strong recovery and growth. Meanwhile, other major Robusta coffee producing countries such as Indonesia, Brazil and Uganda will have to wait until the second half of 2025 for a new harvest. This difference in harvest time is creating limited supply and certain supply-demand pressure, thereby supporting the increase in coffee prices.
In another development, experts said that the coffee market is waiting for new information about the newly elected US President’s policies as well as the actions of the US Federal Reserve (FED). In this context, speculators are actively buying coffee to anticipate possible developments in the future.
Vietnam's leading export market is currently the EU bloc including Germany, Italy, Spain... and some other large markets such as Japan, the US, Russia also recorded strong growth in turnover despite decreasing volume.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 10 months of 2024, coffee exports reached 1.2 million tons, earning 4.6 billion USD. Although the volume of exported coffee decreased by 10.8% compared to the same period last year, the value increased by more than 40%.
