The main driver of the rally is market expectations, although it is still held back by cautious sentiment and a less-than-optimistic outlook if the US and China do not improve trade relations or China does not have more clear economic stimulus measures.
Specifically, on the SGX Singapore exchange, the price of TSR20 rubber futures for June 2025 delivery increased by 2.70 cents to 172.40 cents/kg. The remaining terms from July to September 2025 also increased from 1.30 to 2.90 cents/kg. Meanwhile, the price of RSS3 rubber on the Tocom exchange (Tokyo) remained unchanged, with contracts for delivery in April, May and June 2025 remaining around 341 - 342 yen/kg.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), natural rubber prices were also stable, fluctuating between 16,640 and 16,815 yuan/kg for contracts from April to August 2025. This shows that the market is still observing and there has not been a clear breakthrough in the East Asia region.
In China’s domestic market, rubber harvesting has resumed after the winter holidays. Meanwhile, major producing countries in Southeast Asia are preparing to enter the peak harvesting season from May to September, after a low production period from February to April.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the country's synthetic rubber output in March reached 856,000 tons, up 18% year-on-year. In the first quarter of 2025, total output reached 2.33 million tons, up 10.5% compared to the first three months of 2024.
On the morning of May 7, 2025, domestic rubber prices continued to remain stable at major companies. Prices did not fluctuate much compared to the previous period, reflecting the cautious market trend and the waiting-for-development psychology of the international market.
At Mang Yang Rubber Company, the purchase price of liquid latex ranges from 415 to 420 VND/TSC depending on quality, while coagulated latex is purchased at around 378 - 430 VND/DRC. This price has been applied since April 15, 2025.
Phu Rieng Rubber Company currently lists the price of grade 1 latex at 440 VND/TSC/kg. Mixed latex is purchased at 400 VND/DRC/kg.
Meanwhile, Ba Ria Rubber Company classifies latex purchase prices according to DRC: the highest level is 452 VND/TSC/kg for TSC from 30 and above; level 2 is 447 VND for TSC from 25 to under 30; and level 3 is 442 VND for TSC from 20 to under 25. For cup latex and coagulated latex, prices range from 13,500 to 18,000 VND/kg depending on DRC.
Binh Long Rubber Company still keeps prices stable, with latex in the range of 386 - 396 VND/TSC/kg, while mixed latex with 60% DRC is purchased at 14,000 VND/kg.
The stable price situation shows that the domestic market has not shown any strong signs of fluctuations, although world rubber prices are showing an upward trend on the Singapore exchange.
