* The pig market in the North is flat.
Accordingly, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam and Ninh Binh provinces are purchasing live pigs at 50,000 VND/kg.
Live pigs in the remaining provinces and cities are traded at the same level of 51,000 VND/kg.
Today's live pig price in the North is around 50,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.
* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions also did not record any new changes.
Specifically, the lowest pork price in the region continues to be in the two provinces of Quang Tri and Khanh Hoa .
Meanwhile, traders in Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan maintained purchasing live pigs at the highest price of VND50,000/kg. The remaining provinces had stable live pig prices at VND49,000/kg.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, pig prices remained stable across the board.
Currently, the highest live pig trading price in the region is 52,000 VND/kg, recorded in Ca Mau province.
Traders in Kien Giang province continue to buy live pigs at 51,000 VND/kg.
The remaining provinces and cities maintained stable transactions in the range of 49,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 49,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.
According to breeders, the current price is still lower than the cost of raising pigs and selling a pig costs about 300,000 - 400,000 VND. Therefore, many breeders expect consumption to increase. At the same time, the authorities are controlling smuggled meat well to help the price of live pigs recover to above the cost of raising pigs.
* According to data from the USDA and the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF), US pork exports in October 2023 reached 245,345 tons, worth 688.2 million USD, up 3% in volume but down 2% in value compared to the same period last year and the highest level since June 2023.
In the first 10 months of 2023, US pork exports increased 9% year-on-year to 2.38 million tons, with value increasing 6% to $6.66 billion.
Mexico is the largest importer of US pork, reaching a record 100,867 tons with a total value of 221.1 million USD in October 2023, up 19% in volume and 9% in value compared to the same period last year. In the first 10 months of 2023, US pork exports to Mexico increased by 13% to 895,221 tons, with a value increase of 16% to 1.9 billion USD.
Meanwhile, U.S. pork cuts exports to China and Hong Kong (China) are on a downward trend, down 9% in the first 10 months of 2023 to 149,144 tons. But pork by-product exports to the region still increased 4% year-on-year to 280,682 tons.
