*Pig prices in the North remain stable across the board.

Currently, the lowest and highest transaction prices in the region are 56,000 VND/kg and 59,000 VND/kg, continuing to be present in Lao Cai and Thai Nguyen.

The remaining provinces and cities have live pig prices ranging from 57,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North fluctuates between 56,000 - 59,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions did not record any new changes compared to yesterday.

Of which, traders in Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam , Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan are purchasing live pigs at the lowest price in the region of 53,000 VND/kg.

Live pigs in the remaining provinces are being traded at prices ranging from VND 54,000/kg to VND 56,000/kg.

Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 53,000 - 56,000 VND/kg.

Pig prices in the Southern region also remained stable following the general market trend.

Accordingly, live pigs in Ben Tre and Vinh Long provinces are being purchased at the lowest price of 52,000 VND/kg.

Except for Dong Nai where the price of live pigs is at 55,000 VND/kg, the remaining provinces and cities maintain stable transactions in the range of 53,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.

* According to market experts, usually around the 28th-30th of Tet, pork purchasing power will increase sharply. However, this year, due to guaranteed supply and demand, pork prices are unlikely to fluctuate dramatically, especially when people's demand for Tet goods tends to use a variety of fish and meat and reduce pork purchases.

In addition, many people no longer buy large quantities of food to store during Tet, but only buy enough for their daily needs, because most vendors at the market only close on the first day of Tet and start selling normally again from the second day of Tet.

In the context of the general economic difficulties, many people tend to save on spending, leading to forecasts of reduced purchases of pork and other goods during Tet.

According to traders, there has been a slowdown and even a decrease in the price of live pigs in some localities due to slow consumption and the abundant supply of live pigs ready for sale among the people. Pork businesses and traders are facing difficulties in selling their products.

However, domestic pork supply has been boosted not only by domestic production but also by imports. This has reduced pressure on live hog prices, leading to stability and even a decline in prices in recent times.

In particular , in the last days of January 2024, the price of pigs sold by many households in Can Tho City and neighboring provinces in the Mekong Delta was 52,000 - 55,000 VND/kg. However, in the first days of February, the price of live pigs in some localities has slightly decreased again to about 1,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in most provinces and cities in this region is only commonly at 52,000 - 54,000 VND/kg, but is still about 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year.
