Gia Lai: Thousands more people escape isolation

On the morning of November 21, SGGP reporters noted that thanks to receding water levels, areas that were once heavily flooded in the western communes of Gia Lai province have escaped isolation; people from shelters have returned home safely.

In Ia Pa commune, Mr. Le Tien Manh, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that the spillway of Mo Nang 2 village has stopped flooding. Thanks to that, 341 households with more than 1,500 people in the village have escaped isolation after 6 days of separation. During the isolation period, no one went hungry. The locality has mobilized forces to support the repair of flooded houses and schools in the spirit of handling the situation as the water is drained. As for the Mo Nang 2 spillway that was damaged after flooding, the commune will temporarily reinforce it to ensure safe travel.

In Ia Rsai commune, 65 households with 114 people of Chu Jut village who had to evacuate to schools have returned home as the water receded. People are cleaning their houses and restoring their lives.

In Uar commune, Nu village is a low-lying area so the water recedes slowly. Many houses are still flooded; about 300 people are still staying at the shelter at the school. For the past three days, the local government has organized meals to serve the people of Nu village who are taking refuge.
