Rice price today 01/08: Raw rice slightly decreased

Raw rice prices slightly decrease, transactions slow down

In many localities in the West, raw rice prices decreased slightly. OM 5451 rice decreased by 50 VND/kg, to 9,700-9,850 VND/kg. CL 555 rice decreased by 100 VND/kg, to 9,000-9,100 VND/kg. Other types such as OM 380, OM 18, IR 504 remained unchanged from yesterday.

The decrease in raw rice prices is said to be due to slow purchasing power from factories and warehouses, while the amount of rice arriving at ports is not much.

Rice prices remain stable, farmers continue to hold high prices

Rice prices in provinces such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Soc Trang , etc. remained almost unchanged. Nang Hoa 9 and Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuated between 6,100 and 6,200 VND/kg. OM 5451, OM 18 and IR 50404 rice varieties were stable between 5,700 and 6,200 VND/kg.

Many places recorded slow new trading activities as farmers continued to keep prices high, while traders were cautious in purchasing.

Retail rice prices remain stable, by-product market fluctuates slightly

At the traditional markets, rice prices have not changed much. Nang Nhen rice remains at the highest level of 28,000 VND/kg. Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg, common rice is commonly from 13,000-14,000 VND/kg. Fragrant rice, Soc rice, Jasmine rice, Nhat rice... remain stable in price.

In the by-product segment, bran prices decreased slightly by VND50/kg, trading at VND6,900–7,050/kg. In contrast, OM 5451 broken rice increased by VND50/kg, to VND7,500–7,650/kg. Rice husk prices remained stable at VND1,000–1,150/kg.

Vietnam's rice export price maintains highest position in the region

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged from yesterday. Specifically, 5% broken rice remained at $382/ton – the highest in the region. 25% broken rice and 100% broken rice were at $358/ton and $325/ton, respectively.

Meanwhile, the prices of the same type of rice from Thailand, India and Pakistan are all lower by 4-7 USD/ton, showing that Vietnam is maintaining a good competitive advantage.
