Domestic market prices remain stable, raw rice prices increase slightly
In the provinces of the Mekong Delta, the prices of fresh paddy and rice of all kinds remained stable. Trading activities were slow, the quantity of goods was small, and prices remained almost unchanged compared to the beginning of the week. Meanwhile, some raw rice products recorded a slight increase, such as OM 380 rice, which increased by 50 VND, ranging from 7,700 - 7,850 VND/kg. The remaining types such as CL 555, OM 18, IR 504 or 5451 continued to maintain prices or fluctuated insignificantly.
Fresh rice prices are generally at 5,700 - 6,200 VND/kg depending on the type. In An Giang, Dong Thap, Hau Giang , purchasing activities are taking place regularly, prices remain stable, showing that the market has not had any major changes in supply and demand.
The retail market is flat, the highest price is still Nang Nhen rice.
At retail markets, consumer rice prices have not changed much. Nang Nhen rice continues to be the most expensive item with a listed price of VND28,000/kg. Popular rice varieties such as Huong Lai, Jasmine, Thai pineapple, Taiwanese pineapple, Thai Soc... remain priced at VND16,000 - 22,000/kg, reflecting the stability of the retail market.
Rice exports under pressure, prices drop sharply
In contrast to the domestic market, Vietnam's rice export prices fell sharply on July 16. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 5% standard rice decreased by 5 USD/ton, currently at 377 USD/ton. The prices of 25% broken rice and 100% broken rice remained at 357 USD/ton and 317 USD/ton, respectively.
The decline in 5% broken rice prices amid global market fluctuations shows that there is increasing competitive pressure from regional rivals. However, Vietnam still maintains its advantage in quality and stable supply in the medium term.
