Rice exports skyrocket, surpassing prices of Thailand and India

The export price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam increased sharply to 382 USD/ton, higher than that of Thailand (375 USD/ton), India (377 USD/ton) and Pakistan (376 USD/ton). Other types of rice also increased slightly: 25% broken rice reached 358 USD/ton (up 1 USD), 100% broken rice reached 325 USD/ton (up 6 USD).

Vietnam has become the country with the highest rice export price among the group of key Asian exporting countries.

Domestic rice prices fluctuate little, transactions are slow

In the Mekong Delta region, raw rice prices remained stable or decreased slightly. OM 5451 decreased by 50 VND/kg, fluctuating between 9,800 - 9,900 VND/kg. CL 555 remained at 9,000 - 9,200 VND/kg. OM 380 and OM 18 were stable around 8,000 - 9,700 VND/kg.

At warehouses such as An Giang , Sa Dec or Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the amount of rice arriving is not much. Warehouses are asking to buy in moderation, the price of rice of all kinds is almost unchanged.

Retail rice prices remain stable at traditional markets

Retail rice prices remained unchanged today. Nang Nhen rice was at the highest level at VND28,000/kg. Huong Lai rice was VND22,000/kg, Thai fragrant rice was VND20,000 - 22,000/kg, Jasmine was VND16,000 - 18,000/kg. Regular rice was commonly priced at VND13,000 - 14,000/kg.

Domestic rice prices stable, purchasing power slows down

Rice prices in the Western provinces remained unchanged today. IR 50404 and OM 308 fluctuated between 5,700 and 5,900 VND/kg. OM 5451 was between 5,900 and 6,000 VND/kg. OM 18, Dai Thom 8 and Nang Hoa 9 remained at 6,000 and 6,200 VND/kg.

In regions such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Soc Trang or Hau Giang, traders buy less because rice prices are currently high, while supply is limited.

Stable by-product prices

The price of OM 5451 broken rice fluctuates at 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg, up 50 VND compared to yesterday. Bran and rice husks are unchanged, at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg and 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg, respectively.
