On August 31, the domestic rice market generally had little change. Fresh rice prices in the Mekong Delta remained stable, while raw rice and finished rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday.
Over the past week, rice prices have been adjusted downward several times, causing domestic trading to be quiet. Traders and purchasing warehouses are operating at a slow pace, with few incoming goods.
Rice prices remain stable
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, the prices of popular fresh rice varieties remain stable. OM 18 rice fluctuates at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 and Nang Hoa 9 are around 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 is at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg. IR 50404 and OM 380 are still stable at around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.
In many localities, buying and selling transactions are sparse. An Giang and Can Tho recorded more Autumn-Winter rice being offered for sale, but traders only bought sporadically. Dong Thap and Ca Mau had low demand, farmers mainly kept prices. Tay Ninh (formerly Long An ) also had few new transactions.
Domestic rice prices fluctuate little.
Export raw rice prices today remained stable: CL 555 remained at 7,700 - 7,800 VND/kg, OM 5451 fluctuated at 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg, OM 18 reached 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg. IR 504 fluctuated at 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg, OM 380 at 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg.
In the retail segment, rice prices remained stable. Nang Nhen rice maintained its highest level at VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai rice at VND22,000/kg; Thai fragrant rice fluctuated at VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Jasmine rice was around VND16,000 - 18,000/kg. Popular white rice, Soc rice and Japanese rice all remained the same price as yesterday.
By-product prices remain the same
The by-product group did not have significant fluctuations. OM 5451 broken rice remained at 7,150 - 7,250 VND/kg, dry bran at 6,250 - 6,350 VND/kg, and rice husk remained around 1,400 - 1,500 VND/kg.
Export market stable, Thailand declines sharply
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable. 5% broken rice was at 389 USD/ton; 25% broken rice was 368 USD/ton; 100% broken rice was 335 USD/ton.
In contrast, Thai rice exports in the first seven months of the year fell sharply by 25% in volume and more than 35% in value, to just $2.67 billion. The main reasons were that India resumed rice sales, major markets such as Indonesia and the Philippines reduced imports, while the baht appreciated, reducing competitiveness.
However, Thai rice exports to the US and China still increased slightly. Thailand is actively seeking new markets in the Middle East, China and Japan to make up for the decline.
