Rice price today October 8: Sideways, buying and selling stagnant

Rice prices today, October 8, in the Mekong Delta region remained almost unchanged. The buying and selling market was quiet, traders reduced transactions, and prices remained stable.

Trading market stagnates, rice prices fluctuate little

According to records, rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces today remain stable compared to yesterday. Many localities said that new rice trading activities are slow, and weak purchasing by traders has caused the market to be quiet.

In An Giang , the price of Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 rice (fresh) fluctuates between 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg; IR 50404 rice (fresh) is at 5,000 - 5,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice is from 5,400 - 5,600 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice is about 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; and OM 308 rice is at 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.

Trading activities in localities have decreased sharply. In Dong Thap, new rice transactions have slowed down, with traders buying less and offering low prices. Can Tho has recorded many buyers temporarily suspending purchases, causing rice prices to remain almost unchanged. Ca Mau , Vinh Long and An Giang all have similar trends, with reduced demand and no significant fluctuations in rice prices.

Prices of raw rice and finished products remain high

Regarding rice, the price of raw materials for export in An Giang remains stable. OM 380 rice is traded at 7,800 - 7,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 and IR 504 are around 8,100 - 8,250 VND/kg; CL 555 rice remains at 8,150 - 8,250 VND/kg; OM 18 is from 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg.

In the finished rice group, the price of OM 380 reached 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 remained at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg. Large warehouses in An Giang and Dong Thap reduced purchases, causing less rice to arrive at the port.

Rice by-products are stable, retail rice market prices remain stable

Prices of by-products are also stable at around 7,250 - 10,000 VND/kg. OM 5451 broken rice ranges from 7,250 - 7,350 VND/kg, while bran prices range from 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged compared to the beginning of the week: Nang Nhen rice had the highest price of VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai rice VND22,000/kg; regular rice VND13,000 - 15,000/kg; Thai fragrant rice VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice VND21,000/kg; Jasmine VND16,000 - 18,000/kg; Soc Thai VND20,000/kg and Japanese rice VND22,000/kg.

Vietnam's rice export price remains above 440 USD/ton

In the export market, the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) said the price of 5% broken fragrant rice fluctuates between 440 and 465 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is about 315 and 319 USD/ton; and Jasmine rice is 495 and 499 USD/ton.

Stable prices show that Vietnam's rice exports are at high prices, contributing to maintaining competitive advantages in the region.
