Rice price today, May 14: Mixed fluctuations

Rice prices today, May 14, 2025, in the Mekong Delta region fluctuated slightly. The market volume was low, some rice and fresh rice products increased and fluctuated in opposite directions compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current price of OM 5451 rice (fresh) decreased by 100 VND/kg, fluctuating between 5,900 - 6,200 VND/kg; the price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 5,400 - 5,600 VND/kg; the price of OM 380 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 5,500 - 5,800 VND/kg; the price of Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg; the price of OM 18 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg; the price of Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuated between 6,650 - 6,750 VND/kg.

In many localities today, the supply of Summer-Autumn rice is slow, prices fluctuate little. In Can Tho, Summer-Autumn rice is stable, traders buy slowly, prices are stable. In An Giang, the supply of early-harvested Summer-Autumn rice is low, farmers offer higher prices, traders buy slowly, prices are relatively stable.

In Tien Giang, Summer-Autumn rice transactions are sporadic, rice prices are stable. In Kien Giang, Summer-Autumn rice transactions are sparse, prices are stable. In Long An, Summer-Autumn rice prices are sporadic, new buying and selling transactions are slow.

Similar to rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, currently, IR 504 raw rice increased by 100 VND/kg, fluctuating at 8,250 - 8,350 VND/kg; CL 555 raw rice fluctuated at 8,600 - 8,900 VND/kg; OM 380 raw rice fluctuated at 8,000 - 8,100 VND/kg; OM 18 raw rice fluctuated at 10,200 - 10,400 VND/kg; 5451 raw rice fluctuated at 9,600 - 9,750 VND/kg; OM 380 finished rice fluctuated at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

For by-products, the price of by-products fluctuates from 7,150 - 9,000 VND/kg. Currently, OM 5451 broken rice fluctuates at 7,350 - 7,450 VND/kg; bran price fluctuates at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Recorded in localities today, the variety 50404, OM 380 has low supply, the demand for white rice is better than the warehouse for the price to increase with good quality rice; the price fluctuates little. In An Giang, the quantity is scattered, good quality rice is stable, the warehouse for the price to fluctuate more with white raw rice. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the quantity is small, the rice of all types is relatively stable. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the price of fragrant raw rice increases slightly from 50-100 VND/kg.

Sa Dec market channel (Dong Thap) has better quantity, market warehouses buy good rice regularly, stable prices. At An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), quantity is sporadic, buying and selling transactions are still slow, prices fluctuate little.

At retail markets, rice prices of all kinds remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND28,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates at VND13,000 - 15,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates at VND16,000 - 18,000/kg; common white rice fluctuates at VND16,000/kg; Soc rice often fluctuates at VND17,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice fluctuates at VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Huong Lai rice 22,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice 21,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 20,000/kg; Soc Thai rice 20,000/kg; Japanese rice 22,000/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 397 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 368 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 321 USD/ton.
