In addition, pepper price today in Binh Phuoc increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 127,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices are on an upward trend due to tight global supplies. In major producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and India, prolonged adverse weather and abnormally high temperatures have severely affected pepper crop yields and quality.
In Vietnam, pepper acreage has continued to decline in recent years. This is due to farmers switching to other crops with more stable profits and less risk after pepper prices plunged for a long time. As a result, pepper output in the 2025 crop will be significantly lower than last year.
The market is also currently recording a shortage of circulating goods. Pepper inventories have dropped to only enough for about 45 days of supply, while normally this level fluctuates from 90 to 120 days. Many traders and businesses are hoarding goods, waiting for better prices to sell, further limiting supply and pushing prices up.
Not only due to supply and demand factors, the sharp increase in international transportation costs also contributed to the increase in pepper prices. The shortage of containers and the escalation of sea freight rates due to tensions in the Red Sea and the Middle East caused export costs to skyrocket.
In addition, the global logistics chain has not yet fully recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing to affect pepper exports.
Although high prices have caused some markets to adjust import volumes, pepper consumption demand remains stable in major markets such as the US, Europe, the Middle East and especially China.
China is currently tending to increase its stockpiling of agricultural products, including pepper, to ensure food security and prevent risks in the global supply chain.
