From a rented room, a young couple in Thanh Chuong district wrote a journey of overcoming difficulties to build a happy home.

Coming to Dung town, Thanh Chuong district, local people still have a lot of affection when mentioning the couple Nguyen Quang Tien (born in 1988) and Tran Thi Trang (born in 1990), not only because they were honored as the province's typical young family in 2021, but also because behind that simple home is a journey of overcoming difficulties, spreading love and giving passion for art to many children.

Diligently spreading love of art

Every Wednesday and Friday afternoon, little girl Nguyen Bao Anh (born in 2016, Yen Xuan hamlet, Thanh Ngoc commune, Thanh Chuong district) happily follows her grandmother to the dance class of Ms. Tran Thi Trang and her husband.

Early on, Bao Anh showed her talent for singing and dancing, so from the first grade, her grandmother sent her to Ms. Trang's class - as a small gift for her to play, exercise and indulge in her favorite things after each school day. Living away from her parents since childhood, Bao Anh grew up with her grandparents. Perhaps that's why she considers Ms. Trang her second mother.

Everything was peaceful until Bao Anh entered second grade. Sad news suddenly struck when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. The family's already difficult situation was now compounded by worries. She was forced to temporarily stop her dance class, which somewhat made her become withdrawn.

Understanding Bao Anh's situation, over the past 2 years, teacher Tran Thi Trang and her husband have decided to completely waive tuition fees so that Bao Anh can continue studying. Encouraged by her teacher, loved by her friends and living her passion, Bao Anh gradually found joy again. Last school year, she continued to maintain the title of excellent student, and was also a typical "art tree" of the class and of Thanh Ngoc Primary School.

Not only Bao Anh, recently, many children in Thanh Chuong district have been discovered, nurtured and accompanied on their journey of pursuing art by the couple Tran Thi Trang - Nguyen Quang Tien.

We can mention Tran Vo Khanh Huyen, after many years of being attached to Ms. Trang's class, she confidently shone and won the Gold Medal at the " Nghe An Talent Search" contest organized by the Provincial Youth Union in 2024. Many other students of Ms. Trang have also won district and provincial prizes in singing and dancing talent competitions and stage performances.

The performances choreographed by the couple as well as the props prepared by them have left their mark and brought many achievements to the district. Typical examples include the Second Prize in the Revolutionary Song Propaganda Contest in 2015, the First Prize in the Folk Song Singing Contest in Schools in 2018, the Silver Medal in the Phuong Hoang Trung Do Sports Dance Contest in 2019. The choreography won the Second Prize in the Laborers' Singing Contest in 2024 and received a certificate of merit from the Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province when choreographing the work that won the Gold Prize in the "Heroic Spirit of Thang Long" Camp in 2023 organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha... These are proofs of the journey of nurturing perseverance, quietly but full of love that Ms. Tran Thi Trang and her husband are pursuing.

Not only passionate about art, Trang and her husband are also people who work hard to do charity work. As active members of the Thanh Chuong District Charity Club, they accompany the charity porridge programs, fundraising performances, trips to remote areas, bringing meaningful gifts both material and spiritual to children and the disadvantaged. During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the couple also made more than 300 splash shields to donate to medical facilities and quarantine areas in the district.

The journey of spreading love of Trang and her husband has touched the hearts of many local people. Although they now have a spacious house, a happy home with two children, behind those achievements is a long and arduous journey, when love is the only asset for them to hold hands and move forward.

Love is the fulcrum

Talking about her husband, Ms. Tran Thi Trang shared that in 2008, Ms. Trang passed the entrance exam to Nghe An College of Culture and Arts, while Mr. Nguyen Quang Tien studied Industrial Fine Arts at Nghe An Industrial Economics College. Their love blossomed from chance meetings, then gradually bonded through the days of studying together and sharing difficulties in the city.

In 2011, after graduating, Ms. Trang returned to her hometown to work and continued studying at the Hanoi University of Culture. Mr. Tien went to Hanoi and applied for a job at the Cai Luong Theater in the props and scenery department.

Their love went through many more challenges, especially the years of living apart, each in a different place. At the end of 2014, the two decided to get married, officially becoming husband and wife.

At that time, our home was just a simple rented room. “The wedding bed that my husband and I shared was lent to us by the landlord. Many days when I came home late from work and it was raining heavily, I had to stay up all night just to cover the furniture in the house from getting wet. At times like that, I just wished that my husband and I had stable jobs and could live close to each other,” Trang confided.

Feeling sorry for his wife's hard work, in May 2015, Mr. Tien decided to quit his job in Hanoi, return to his hometown and start over with his wife. He started by assisting his wife in designing dance props, then learned how to tailor and design performance costumes. Each dance dress and each prop was painstakingly completed by his own hands.

From a small costume rental shop, the couple overcame many difficulties to gradually build an art class named after Ms. Trang. This is not only a place for many children in the area to learn dance, but also a space to nurture passion and spread love for art. In addition to teaching dance, they also expanded their wedding decoration services, arranging flowers for the bridal car with all their diligence and skillful hands.

Love has become the strength and support to support them through the most difficult days. From the cramped rented room and the borrowed wedding bed, they now have a complete and full home. Their two children are both obedient and have shown singing talent since childhood. Ms. Trang is also trusted to take on the role of Vice President of the Thanh Chuong District Youth Union.

Looking back on the journey, I realize that the most precious thing is not what has been achieved, but the love that always exists in our home - a place where we both preserve and nurture with all sincerity and understanding.
