World gold price today 7/22/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 p.m. on July 22, Vietnam time, was 3,388.11 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 22.87 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,320 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 111 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 11 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Gold prices fell slightly this afternoon after hitting a five-week high in the morning as investors took advantage of the opportunity to take profits. Meanwhile, the market is focusing on trade negotiations ahead of the August 1 deadline set by US President Donald Trump.
Specifically, spot gold prices increased by 0.68% compared to yesterday and decreased by 0.3% compared to this morning, after previously reaching the highest level since June 17. US gold futures also decreased by 0.2% to 3,398.40 USD.
Gold prices eased slightly on profit-taking pressure but remained near a five-week high on cautious sentiment ahead of the upcoming tariff deadline, said Jigar Trivedi, senior commodities analyst at Reliance Securities.
“The bullish trend in gold is likely to continue. Strong resistance lies around $3,420, while $3,350 is an important support level,” he said.
The dollar index edged up 0.1 percent against a basket of currencies, making gold, which is typically priced in dollars, more expensive for foreign investors. Meanwhile, trade tensions between the United States and the European Union (EU) are rising.
EU diplomats said the bloc was considering retaliatory measures against the US as the chances of a trade deal dwindled. Mr Trump threatened to impose 30% tariffs on EU goods if the two sides failed to reach an agreement by August 1. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stressed that the government prioritized the quality of a trade deal over the speed of negotiations.
Another factor influencing gold prices is the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting next week. The Fed is expected to keep interest rates unchanged for the time being and may start cutting them in October. Gold typically benefits when interest rates are low and when geopolitical or economic uncertainty prevails.
Besides gold, silver fell 0.3% to $38.81 an ounce, while platinum remained unchanged at $1,437.65. Palladium fell slightly 0.2% to $1,261.93.
Gold Price Forecast
US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs are expected to force many central banks to loosen monetary policy in the coming time. According to the plan, the US will impose tariffs on each industry and each country in the next 2 weeks.
A 50% tariff on copper could be announced soon, before it takes effect on August 1, according to a US government source. At the same time, retaliatory tariffs on goods from more than 100 countries will also be imposed.
The People’s Bank of China (PBoC) has just kept its key lending rate unchanged at 3.0%, in line with market expectations. Meanwhile, experts from CPM Group recommend buying gold with an initial target of $3,425/ounce in early August.
Gold prices have hit $3,381.60 at times and have fluctuated between $3,326 and $3,389 in recent days. CPM Group predicts prices will continue to stabilize around $3,320 and $3,400 before rising again.
The World Gold Council (WGC) is even more optimistic, predicting prices could reach $4,000 an ounce by the end of the year, although growth is likely to be modest.
Gold trading has remained buoyant despite the impact of US tariffs, said Suki Cooper, an expert at Standard Chartered. She said inflows into gold ETFs in the first half of 2025 reached a five-year high, indicating strong investor interest.
Although central banks have slowed their gold purchases compared to before, they still maintain a tendency to accumulate rather than sell. This continues to support gold prices in the long term.
